Whether we go up or not, we need a DoF, expanded scouting team, get looking abroad and take recruiting to a new level.

Things have to change, however uncomfortable some in the club may feel.

If COH are serious about their investment that is
When Huddersfield were last in Prem they had many players from overseas.
They all formed different cliques and the dressing room was split into about 5 sections, no togetherness, collective purpose or team spirit.

This is always likely to happen if you drag in multiple foreign players to quickly.

It's a gentle transition that's needed, always driven by picking "the right player" for the most important area of the team that needs strengthening first.

They were also perhaps... not very good?

Yeah....not very good foreign players, who had no allegiance to the club.

That was my point, it's no good signing foreign players because they're cheaper.

They've got to be good enough for the Premier in all departments

Adapting to the culture comes first and that's not easy. They've still got Jeff locked away under the main stand watching When Saturday Comes on a loop.

That won't help adapt him to the culture though - it'll just make him hate Sean Bean. Though I suppose that helps in its own way.

I hope that we target top Championship talent for a good portion of our signings. Reality is we need to recruit for a playoff push in 2026-27. That sounds negative, but it doesn't mean that we can't compete in a relegation battle, but it means we aren't losing players if we go down.

Some players I would target:

  • Mattie Pollock - Watford. I think CB is a key area. He has all the attributes you want, young, strong in the air, a leader and good in the Ball
  • TorBjorn Heggum - WBA. Same as above really. One of the two should be a priority.
  • Jason Knight - Bristol. A Jack of all trades hard working CM. Consider this a Ben Osborn signing, but a better player. You can scoff at that, but Osborn played a lot of games in the PL, we need Players like him. CM is a strength for us, but more depth wouldn't be an issue.
  • Ronald - Swansea. Get on the ground floor on this guy. He has good attacking attributes, but also really great battling/defensive attributes. To create chances in the PL we'll need to win posession in the opposition half. He seems to be a great at that and good on the ball. Apparently finishing needs to improve, but you aren't getting the finished article to be recruited into a relegation scrap. I expect a big season for him next year at swansea, and at 15m+ transfer in the summer of 26 if no-one grabs him this summer.
  • Jack Rudoni - Coventry. This one is obvious. He's a huge talent, probably looking higher up the PL table for a move, however, just like Hamer, if he's still available in August then snap him up.

Should change it to Championship recruitment strategies, same strategies apply for the championship, just with a different pool of players.
