Will we sell out?

This thread and other ones about PO's and tickets are blowing my mid a bit and actually making me feel quite depressed.

I get the finances are an issue for some but really struggle with the general apathy that lots of people seem to have about watching their team. Is it just us or does it reflect a wider issue across the game, i don't know? Is it part of the same issue that fans pour out of the Lane from 80 mins onwards whatever the match situation, they can't all have mobility needs, journeys to the other end of the country etc etc. If watching United made me feel like that i'd just stop going altogether.

For me, after the daily grind, life is predominantly about experiences with my family and friends. If we're fortunate enough to be at Wembley on 24th May then i'd give my right bollock to be there roaring the boys on with my wife, kids and friends.

Old Wembley
Pigs ❌
Palace ❌
Millennium Stadium
Wolves ❌
Old Trafford
Newcastle ❌
Arsenal ❌
New Wembley
Burnley ❌
Huddersfield ❌
Hull City ❌
Man City ❌

That’s my record watching United at a neutral venue. Played 9, lost 9, scored 4, conceded 17.

So, yeah, I think I might be watching us lose if we get there.
Yeah, only missed the Newcastle game out of that list.
Don't enjoy the trip anymore, although mainly because of defeat, but we will win there one day, hopefully this will be it.

Although my "record" is the same, one of the most proudest days of being a blade was that Hull match.

It surely depends how the parameters of what is or isn't a big club are defined? Without that, the statement that "we are not a big club" makes no sense at all.
Agreed. In the same way claiming we are a big club is.

When we lost to Plymouth I must say I thought to myself. Can't be going to Wembley again.....

I've got over it now. I will miss the home PO leg due to not being here. But if we manage to overcome whomever it is we face, then I'll be wanting to go to Wembley.

I can understand finances, I can understand people having PTSD from our previous playoff finals and FA cup semi finals. But I'd say that this squad has enough quality in it to do it at Wembley in a PO final.
I also think that for a club of our size we've been "treated" to more than our fair share of FA Cup Semi's and Play Off finals in the past 25 years. Wonder if it's more than other clubs of a similar ilk? And of course none we have won.

When I think back to fairly recent previous PO finals the last one I think you'd feel like this would be the Wolves one. We'd just overcome Forest and aside from Windass had a nearly full complement of players.
Burnley we had barely any strikers and Huddersfield losing Ched we had lost our focal point and the team morale was on the floor.

So City had around 42,000 there that day did they ?
You’re right to query that, Pegster.

My recollection is that we sold just over 32,000 for the Man City game.

City sold a similar number…and MCFC didn’t even attempt to sell 2 entire blocks on the upper tier on the side where the cameras are, and instead arranged to have them covered over with enormous Man City banners.

What was the attendance that day? I'd guess we took around 30k.

It's a forum thing from a minority of people.

I've just looked at sales for the Blackburn match, which effectively carries no league significance it's virtually sold out. Just a handful of tickets here and there.
I've stopped looking at most of these threads they just drag the mood down. Out in the real world people are going and enjoying themselves.

Should hope we sell out, poor if not, if we’re to be a big club need to act like one.
We can't if the ticket office prevents us from acting like one

Luton sold over 40,000 tickets for their Wembley play off final, so did Coventry, and so have dozens of other teams who have never seen a 40,000 attendance in their entire history

And they didn't do it by watching the days and weeks go by sectioning fans off into different loyalty points groups

There's more tickets available than our average attendance so the club owes loyalty to NOBODY

I’d just like to think we have enough fans to fill our half regardless of circumstances

Whereas the FA cup final/semis can be enjoyed for the occasion. The play-offs games are the exact opposite, they are full of nervous tension, and the endeavours of a whole season are on the line. Also the prize is so big that some clubs literally can’t afford to fail. So I can’t really blame any Blade wanting to bury their head till this is all over.

See the Man City game .. that was a free hit and a day out.. sold less than 27k

I’m a season ticket holder and wanted 4 tickets alll sat together.

Went down to the ticket office and they said Wembley stadium are handling ticket sales. One of us didn’t have enough points so none of us went.

I’m trying for the same 4 to go to the play-off final and wonder how simple or difficult jt will be to but 4 tickets together.

For this game Man City fans were allowed 4 tickets per customer whereas our tickets went on sale a week later and strictly 1 ticket per ID reference with a points restriction in place, which was later relaxed about 2 days before the game.

Wilder issued a rallying cry in his post match interview, wants the lane sold out. Not sure how much of an effect that will have though

I've asked the fan advisory board if they can have any say in this. The Man City ticket policy was ludicrous and was the main reason we didn't sell out. We shouldn't be making the same mistakes again when other clubs are far more lenient

Nailed it for me mate.

Times aren't easy financially for plenty of people and it surprises me on here how out of touch a few are.

That said, I'm really disappointed how many lifelong fans I know who say they won't go to Wembley, not due to finances, but because they've had enough of play offs.

I'm no Rothschild by a long shot but I could never not want to be there to back the team in such a big game, let alone potentially miss being one of the lucky few who see us win at Wembley for the first time in a century.

Then again, maybe it's fate that when we do get that one day in the sun in more than a lifetime, we'll get ridiculed for having a pathetic following at Wembley.

I'll take that to see us win.

BTW good job I checked the post, for some reason autocorrect changed the first sentence to 'nailed it gorgeous' 😆😘

That's fucking ridiculous

Barely anyone's going to want to get a ticket on their own, ideally with friends or family. It needs to be a bigger window where bulks can be bought together instead of last few days.

I get that people want to go in groups and sit together, but why is it so difficult to wait a week to buy the tickets together when everyone is eligible to buy a ticket?

It pretty much guaranteed we won’t sell out so there is no need to worry about missing out.

Brilliant I'm glad hopefully it will get brought to the attention of someone with a bit of influence in that department.

Such a ridiculous policy, it actively hinders fans wanting to pay their hard earned cash to watch the blades.

Every time we've been to Wembley since loyalty points, we've generally gone in decent sized groups ticket wise from memory. In fact, the only one overall I can remember being just me and my Dad, was the Pig game.

TIcketing is always on the agenda and has been brought up with the club before, I've been in numerous groups on loyalty points, ticket allocation etc etc... What's the ridiculous part and how should it be handled?

We are very much a big club. Just not a massive club.
As has been explained by another poster it all depends on what you're measuring against. In my opinion we're not a big club. We struggle to sell out home games finishing 3rd on 90 points, struggle to sell out Wembley appearances and are apparently struggling to sell out for Bristol City at home. There are teams that regularly sell more than double tickets than we struggle to. They're the big clubs. It's really not important BTW.
