Will we go up this season?

I honestly believe we have as good a chance as anyone , providing we can keep playing the same team or something very close to it .

The opening two games were truly depressing but after the re-introduction of Duffy and Sharp ( which most on here were crying out for ) plus the arrival of Norwood and the acquisition of back up players who can do a good job if called upon , I fancy our chances against anyone in this league .

Were it to be so , it would make an old man very happy .
I agree. A lot will depend on good luck with injuries and whether we can add firepower in the JTW.

its going to be tough, I think play offs are very realistic if we can get a goalscorer in January maybe Hogan who wilder is waiting for with his fitness getting back to 100% then it possible. but championship is so unpredictable

For those writing off our promotion aspirations and predicting mid table just consider this: Do you honestly think Wilder is thinking the same? Not a fucking chance, he'll be as bullish about our chances even more so than the most optimistic amongst our fan base. The same applies to our players. They'll be aware of the mincemeat they made out of Villa and will know it's within their capabilities to do the same to any club in the league. The pessimism amongst our fans in not a new thing, its always been thus but for fucks sake the shaking of heads and feeling of impending doom when we come across the likes of Brentford are taking it a bit far. For me, the stars are aligning: we have the players, the manager, even the two muppets on the board have put their stupid squabble to one side as far as the team are concerned. It's just the fans who need to man up a bit now and stop being so fucking negative.

"And the bells were ringing out for Christmas Dayyyy".

If it hinges on January signings then we can forget it. It's much harder to bring the right players in mid season.

We're better off hoping McGoldrick, Woodburn and Washington have good seasons. And Clarke and Sharp.

January will only be relevant if we get an injury to one of our key players as in last season, i.e. in replacing a player rather than trying to add to or improve the squad. Lessons learned hopefully.

I am not sure we have seen the "average" Sheffield United yet so it is hard to form an opinion. We have seen the poor side of us in the 1st two games, & maybe the best of us in the last two games, it is what we do when we are playing at our average level that will decide where we finish I feel. Certainly we have the potential, lets see where we are around the JTW & if we are in the hunt but need a little push see if our board has the courage to give us the players if we need them.
I am confident we will have a good season, there seems to be a real feel good factor around the club again, so bring it on & see where it takes us.

There's only one automatic place to play for though isnt there now that S6 HMS piss the league have got going againt piss poor opposition - and Tuna man has said its this season or bust so that seals it !!

Until Burton last season we were on fire with absolutely no reason to think we would derail. Norwood has put us totally back on line and we have Coutts to ease back. I am the biggest cynic going regarding our club but truly believe there is absolutely no reason whatsoever we can't go up in style this season. The only reasons we won't are if the bell ends in the boardroom screw us in January or we get a crazy set of injuries.

Far too early to say
In January we could lose Fleck as easy as anything, and maybe Norwood as well even though he's only been here two minutes.

Coutts regaining fitness would give our boardroom all the excuses they'd need to sell

Boardroom? How many more times does wilder have to state he decides who leaves before you stop blaming the board, if anyone leaves it will be his decision just like brooks was, we all know wilder well enough to know if players were sold without his blessing he would walk

Ask us again at the end of January. Our remaining fixtures at that point are : Bolton.(H) Villa(A), Middlesbro(H), Reading(H) and West Brom(A). All of which on current form will either be opponents involved in religation or promotion . Either way too soon to call.

I will still say it’s odds against but certainly more possible than it looked four weeks ago.

I still think we are a powerful striker and defensive numbers short.
The powerful striker is coming in January. We should start a separate thread about this! I think it will be Kieffer Moore.

The idea's to wait and see.

Que sera sera.....

Oh, here he is again look.

I’m surprised you’re still here. You spout nothing but doom and gloom bollocks. Isn’t it about time you vacated this forum?

Adding to the above.

Sheffield United FC is currently in a growth/ development phase.
The only way Norwood or Fleck will be sold is

1: If we received a rediculous offer AND
2: Wilder was able to use the funds to strengthen the team even more
Meaning Wilder would sanction the sale because he thinks our chances of promotion improve after the transfer activity.

Wilder has already made it very clear if he’s not supported by the board then he walks.

Only if HMS P1SS the league gets torpedoed..then the stir will step in, launch a "Promote Our Fowls" campaign, we will have finished in top spot but the useless tarts in the efl pick up on the stirs campaign, we get deducted 50 pts for stopping bouncing last year, kidney punching OAP's, burning little groots..sticking roadkill sqirrels into pies...but also for trying to play attractive attacking footy.....

Seriously though it won't be until about begining of nov before we have any idea of the position we could finish in....then take into account injuries that could happen, new league rulings..see first part...etc...etc

Well that's not true, we frequently sell players without meeting the requirements 1 and 2 in your post.

We obviously have a chance, I think were in better shape than last season. Still think injuries could wreck us. In all honesty id be happy with another top half finish.
