The division overall, IMHO is weaker than last year.

Overall, we are stronger. And the crucial role that Coutts had up till his injury, so pivotal in our rise to the top of the division, is now more than adequately covered in the shape of Norwood.

So we are sorted in this department, so crucial to any success we might have (unless both injured).

Not this season. There's too much quality at the top of the league and we can't match it. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, we are just starting our 2nd season in this league and we have to build. We'll be 7th or 8th this time. I expect us to improve on last season's finish as we've strengthened in the summer and the league is weaker with 3 exceptional teams getting promoted last year. But we're a bit off the pace for the top 6. We're playing fantastic football though, and we will improve further. Next season we should be pushing for top 6.

I think Wilder will go if he can't get us up in the next couple of years. He's too good for this league, and when someone like Bournemouth, Watford or Southampton come a-knocking and say "Here lad, we'll quadruple your salary and give you a big budget for the Prem" he'll more than likely say "Guh on then!" and that'll be that. And who could blame him? He's done, and will continue to do a superb job here. A play-off final win in 18 months is probably realistic on current trends. All back to mine for some sherberts if so, lads.

Spot on. And the reason why we should enjoy the moment. Seen enough to think we can go up under Wilder (and not just be a heart over head thing), But we'll still need a fair wind....Whatever happens, it's bloody good going to the Lane, getting to away games is a bonus. I honestly believe we have as good a chance as anyone , providing we can keep playing the same team or something very close to it .

The opening two games were truly depressing but after the re-introduction of Duffy and Sharp ( which most on here were crying out for ) plus the arrival of Norwood and the acquisition of back up players who can do a good job if called upon , I fancy our chances against anyone in this league .

Were it to be so , it would make an old man very happy .

Play like we did in the first half against villa, and no one in this league will live with us , in fact the bottom half of the premier won't live that performance, I really do feel something's magical is developing at the lane this season , if we muller Bristol city like the last 2 games we've played then anythings possible , it will be a good indication where we are the next match .

There's a ton of teams in a similar position to us, with enough quality spread throughout their team for a potential challenge, but not enough to say they'll nailed on make it into the top 6.

Boro, Leeds look quality at this stage, with Brentford, Swansea and WBA also contenders. Interesting to see some saying the league has less quality this year, I would've said it had more before the season started but now i'm not so sure. I was convinced teams such as Forest, with a lot of investment, would start strongly but they haven't impressed really.

The only thing that concerns me is that the notion of building, whilst laudable, does need to take into consideration that in football things change pretty quickly. Just assuming we'll be able to keep the best players in this squad season after season in preparation for an auto bid in 2/3 years time is naive, in my opinion.

The likelihood is more that we'll sell our best players and have to replace them, and I don't even mean this as a criticism of the club, it's just the natural progression for players in this league to want to test themselves at the highest level. With Wilder at the helm and with the money coming in for said players there's also every chance we'll re-invest wisely, but it's not a guarantee.

Basically, there is a time limit to the window for obtaining success, so whilst we're in a good position (which we are), we should always be looking for promotion. I'm pretty sure Wilder feels this way anyway, so it's up to us to just enjoy the ride.
