Just thinking what our support will look like when this pandemic is over and we are allowed back into BDTBL.
I think the 10,000 to 15,000 like me would turn up no matter what, the 5,000 we picked up when we went up from the 1st to the championship and then 5,000 more when we were promoted to the Prem plus the 5,000 we've added while being in the prem, I'm not so sure about.
I'm fortunate enough to be able to attend home and away every game and have noticed I'm £200 better off every month with not having to pay for the cost of the away games, will some fans think sod football I'm quids in. Will others have found other things to do with their time ( family other sports ) and of course there will be people who will be scared to death to go back into a crowd in a stadium even though they have been told it is safe to do so.
Only time will tell, what do you think ?

The people who attend away matches are mostly die-hards who have been going home and away for years and through our years of gloom so we will turn up even looking at the money saved........ I will be there no matter what home and away as usual when we are allowed.

Wouldn't have thought how long someone's been attending will have much bearing on it. It'll be a case on how scared they are for themselves and family as to whether they go. That'll apply equally to someone who's been a season ticket holder for donkeys years are someone new to it from this season.

I personally think attendances will take a big hit everywhere until people have more confidence it'll be safe.

Quite obviously crowds don’t come back until social distancing ends, and currently the political mindset is that death rates need to be zero before that happens.

If they don’t find a vaccine then a political calculation of what’s an acceptable death rate is Going to have to be made or the Worlds economy is sunk. That mindset will only change when the public fears about the virus changes and that is a long way off as currently almost 80% of people don’t think it’s safe to send their children to school.

Random swab survey of English households suggests that 1 in 400 people in England are infected - around 0.27% of the population - after just 33 of 11,000 swab kits posted and returned tested positive for the virus. Based on that you'd expect 81 people to carry the disease in a sellout crowd. Being a young-ish-un I think I'd happily go along to that right now.

Edit: but of course, it's not about whether I'm happy to go, but society as a whole. I think there will have to come a time when we move out of total lockdown for everyone to a strategy of shielding those at risk and we can judge these things for ourselves. It's not possible to continue like this indefinitely.

For the last game Vs Norwich

We travelled over on the train, standing room only

Had a couple in the Red Lion, fairly full at that time

Had a sit down Chippy at the bottom of the Moor, queueing to get a table

Went to the game, mingled under the John Steet Stand, then took out Seats, full all around

Back into the Nelson for a couple, fairly full, not rammed

Back on the train, all seats full, no one standing

Fuck knows how much non-self distancing that amounted to ....................

£200 quid spent on 2 away games per month? Light weight.

Speaking for myself, I will not be going to the Lane again until a vaccine is available, as I am in the high risk bracket,( old age and COPD.) I have supported the lads since 1947, and I hope to see them again before it is too late.
