Player Suggestion Will Smallbone

No creative players?! They had plenty, the left winger probably the standout
Edozze was fast getting down the wing and round the back but didn’t find players in the middle. That’s not creative it’s wasteful. 23 shots 7 on target most from outside area.

Southampton weren't that impressive to me at all.
Martin seems to want Southampton to play similar to the way Slav wanted us to, we know how that worked out.

They played a poor team off the park for most the match without showing what they really can do, easy win but should have attacked them more really, just showed they will be in top 2 from the off really?

They barely created anything. They scored an 87th minute winner when they could have buried them before half time.

Wednesday were absolutely fuckin dreadful.

Brilliant at 3 yard passes
Doing the simple things well is no bad thing. He seems especially good at it. Thought he demonstrated there, against wank opposition or not, that he's capable in that deeper central role as well as the RCM role I think he's most suited for. Which would make him the perfect long term signing for us

I thought they were great and utterly dominated wendy

Slav was and is a good manager he just had the exact opposite of the squad to do that

Martin is a good manager and anyone judging him off two games against us isn’t really judging him properly

It's funny tho, Wednesday fans are high fiving they lost at home...

I reckon under Russell Martin Southampton will draw or lose more away games than they win under that style of football.

Back them to do decent at home tho.

Be interesting to see who Southampton manage to keep hold of come August 31st, I can't imagine that the likes of Walker-Peters, Ward-Prowse, Tella and a few of the others will want to stay in the championship.

Was men against boys for the vast majority of the game.

But as ever in the championship you can dominate a game but if it is at 1-0 you are always vulnerable to a goal.

Southampton showed why they were relegated defensively against a poor Wednesday team they switched off at a key moment.

Yes. It's almost as if Wednesday were unlucky to have to play them so early when they're still full strength.
Bwahahaha.

They looked neat and tidy in possession. Possession walking round the central 3rd of the pitch under zero pressure.

Was like a warm up to a friendly at times

Might be massively wrong at the end of the season but don’t rate Martin. Seems to fail upwards with no discernible success other than playing nice looking football that flatters to decisive. No cutting edge , and no apparent willingness to turn the screw when they are on top and find one.

Southampton played keep ball,if you have the ball the opposition just run around chasing shadows, they did move the ball forward quickly at times but it was the final pass that let them down.

Smallbone and bald at 23. Poor lad.
I'm not saying this to make you feel bad or owt, but you may not know that he's got alopecia (hair doesn't grow either in patches or in larger areas like Smallbone), so like Jonjo Shelvey too. On a lighter note and serves me right, my sister got it and had patches of hair falling out which she had to cover with longer hair around it. Secretly I did find it a tad amusing, which I'm ashamed to admit. Then within a year or so I ended up with alopecia too! In my case and probably my sisters it was related to stress and usually grows back, it has for me and my sister, for others like Shelvey it's a permanent condition.

Time to go in hard for Smallbone now it looks like Berge is off

Hard to predict what he may cost. They may now be totally unwilling to sell. But we should try

Failing this, Hamer or Chukwuemeka could be alternative replacements

All decent signings for me but I'd be amazed if we were willing to pay what should be affordable fees

So, we are interested in him then

If that bid was made at the start of pre season it would have probably been accepted

But this is encouraging. If he wants the move then it must be likely, especially as Southampton are more likely than most to extract asset value rather than let them run their contracts down

Given that it's surely a difficult ask for us to get Hamer, this one could be high possibility. Maybe Egan can help us out a bit too, being an Ireland team mate of his

Called this one months back. Reyt player for Stoke. Would this be instead of Hamer or as well as Or hedging our bets?
3 years younger and potentially looking cheaper, how much cheaper depends how much Southampton actually want for him, watching Sky Sports News last night suggests that Southampton could make up to a potential £130 million in player sales this summer.

Ward-Prowse might still be on his bike. If so, I can’t see Saints letting Smallbone leave as well, especially as they’ll be pocketing £30m+ for Ward-Prowse

Was talking to a pig earlier, he was proud of how they'd coped against a team with a £40m (made up I know!) midfielder.

He had no comeback when I said that surely it's just a stroll in the park for someone as good as Bannan.
