Out of interest, how did you interpret it?
I don't read too much into anything hecky says

Why you forensically disect it add bits on and then portray that narrative as fact astounds me

You may well be right but no one has stated hecky had to be told no ,yet its been repeated on here as fact several times as often happens on here opinion becomes fact and history is rewritten

Well to be fair, PH himself did say he was disappointed that he wasn't allowed to keep ES and BS which tends to suggest that he would have liked to have kept them on. That would have been a mistake despite who made the final decision. The disappointment was that he mentioned that he wanted to keep them. If the board have overruled him (seems likely) then we owe them thanks for doing so and wanting to move on some of the seasoned pros. We would be having churn to the squad not having the same squad again. ES and BS had run their races with us and JF and BO can be thankful they have had the opportunity of a contract put their way.

He never mentioned being allowed or not allowed to keep anyone

"Everyone knows I wanted to keep the squad together... I'm disappointed but sometimes things are out of your control. What we lose with losing Enda and Billy is the thing that I've been trying to protect and that's the character about the group of players...

I also know we're going to be working within the budget we've been given and the more players you have to replace within that budget the harder it gets, so from that end I'm disappointed."

I'm not really sure you're onto something with this one Frank the tank .
Think he made it as obvious as he possibly could that he wanted to keep him but was denied.

If it wasn't within his control, who's control was it within?
He wanted to keep them but whomever has that control above him went against his wishes...

So things being out of your control can only mean heckingbottom was over ruled and heckingbottom saying what he did can only mean that he fought to keep them and was told to fuck off ?

There are no other possibilities at all that could apply to those quotes or that scenario ?

Just that one extremely negative one that with heckys track record is probably 50 / 50 wether it's actually even true or not

Couldn't be that sharp and enda wanted the same premier league contracts they had before even though they were unlikely to play and were offered less and decided to leave ?
Or that hecky actually wanted them out but doesn't want to be seen to go against club legends ?

But no it can only be interpreted in one way
You're way and funnily enough that would be the one that has the most negative connotations

Maybe it was within the control of the budget? Maybe he has to face up to bringing in less players but of a higher quality and adding their wages into the pot helps with that.

I don't doubt that Billy and Enda are good influences. But you'd have to be negatively inclined to immediately write off what new players may bring. Perhaps they bring someone in who is uber professional and takes the club to new levels.

For me, I'm doing my best to be in the wait and see camp. When we kick off in less than 2 months, we'll have an idea how well we recruited. I don't see a 33 year old left back and a 37 year old striker impacting that though.

Reading the whole thing in context it's pretty obvious he is saying there are pros and cons to every move and releasing them means losing two strong characters ,weakening the group and having to find two more players to fill the squad

The interpretation that he has fought to keep them and was told no is something that's just not there
He won't have been told we'll thanks for the input Paul but we think no they're gone

I think you're clutching at straws but it's fine to have differing opinions.

It's all about differing opinions yet mine is clutching at straws and yours is being presented as fact even though you don't know it to be true ?

I see. So you included in the conversations then to be so sure of this then?

Fine have you opinion and you are entitled to it. Mine is that it's fairly clear he wa told that some of the older players needed to be moved on to free up budget for others which are needed. So maybe he wasn't told 'x and y have to go' but 'resdibg between the lines' I think it's safe to assume he was told that some had to go. For the record I also wasnt involved in those conversations either.

My whole fucking point is that no one on this forum was included in any of the conversations
Everything else is conjecture

But are you trying to make a point or a fucking point? It does makes a difference.

If it was you trying to make a point, I think you could have a point, but if you are trying to make a fucking point, then I don't think you have a fucking point at all. Conjecture you see.

Your earlier post was fucking stupid

Conjecture. I thought I had a point to be fair. Or maybe it was a 'fucking point'? Clearly not. A poster as distinguished as your good self saw through it all and has seen it for what it was i.e. 'fucking stupid'. You are clearly an intellectual fella. So we'll leave it there. Still think you don't have a 'fucking point' though. Stupid or not.

Agree but would needing to replace those two on top of replacing the Man City lads as well as Sharp, Stevens and JOC mean the rebuilding job over summer is too big resulting in starting next season with very little of the team that earned promotion?
The thought of Fleck, Robinson and particularly Osborn playing regularly next season, given that offers were made and appear to still be on the table, is worrying. I would have hope Paul Mitchell would have at least have had decent replacements for those identified.
Hecki can say what he wants ! Just words mean nothing
The3 who are going were not going to get contracts if promoted.
Championship would be different and the experience of Sharp and Enda would have Been usefull playing regularly or not.As it stands now we have 3 spaces ! there wages will come in handy for a loan player possibly two.

Relax. Sit back and enjoy the summer. Football will have its chance in the Autumn. I enjoy talking about United in the summer but I certainly don't miss watching them. I have other things in my life that take precedence.

Out of interest, how did you interpret it?
I interpreted it as having been given a budget which meant that he had a choice to make over bringing in a certain number of new players or keeping on the old guard whereas he would have liked to be able to do both, hence his disappointment.

But that’s just my interpretation, as is yours, and it might be that neither of us is right.

I'm not sure our opinion differs greatly based on what you just said...
Either way, everyone entitled to their own opinions per previous post.

Started against Wednesday tonight. Extremely impressive passing stats and involvement

No chance he goes anywhere now. Predictable this would happen

Predictable what would happen? A player weren’t interested in had a decent enough game in the division below where we’re currently at? I reckon that might happen a lot this season

Didn’t think he looked all that, they were literally walking round for large parts of the game.

They struggled to create much or gain any type of momentum.

Not a game to judge anyone on.

Southampton were an example of a team without creative players. No penitration against a team parking the bus.

They played a poor team off the park for most the match without showing what they really can do, easy win but should have attacked them more really, just showed they will be in top 2 from the off really?

Thought Stuart Armstrong looked decent when he came on down the left, although he turned us down during the Wilder era
