Will blackwell get the sack at the end of the season if we dont get promoted?

We will loose out on alot of money with parachutes if we dont go up.

Blackwells job is to get us promotion....If he fails at his job... will he get the boot?

McCabe said with hindsight that warnock wasn't good enough for the prem.... so why did he go and appoint his understudy who isn't as good?

abba - money, money, money?

Highly unlikely. Appointing and then sacking Robson can't have been cheap, and Blackwell has signed a contract extension, so McCabe isn't likely to give him the boot. Besides, is not like we're at the arse-end of the league is it? Blackwell could argue that he's done well - play-offs are almost guaranteed at the moment.

Nothing is guaranteed with the way we have been playing!

So McCabe being the "ambitious git" and the "fan" of the club would rather save some cash and stay in this division with a failed manager than see us get back to the prem?

Im not convinced!

I think at most he'll draft in some help/promote Speedo.

If you look at Blackwell's record since he came, its actually pretty good. I'd imagine making the play-offs whilst "reshaping" would be seen as relatively successful.

We can't just keep chopping and changing.

true we cant keep chopping and changing.... but if its not getting us to our end goal... do we keep with it?

TBH i think some of his re-styling of the squad has been poor..... hendo and howard to name 2....

Blackberry was the cheap as chips option................a knee jerk re- action ?
whatever it was in my opinion it was another BIG footballing mistake by McCabe.

an remind me again: Why the contract extension ?

Long term, no. But it's not been given long yet, neither have we failed in our objectives.

Some of it has been useful though.

Id say it was thinking long term with the contract extension....

Ill give him till the end of the season to work some magic... then im making some signs to protest ;)

If you want to talk about failed managers take a look at some of the teams a dozen places below us. Kinda nice to have that many clubs propping us up. Only two clubs in first and second so I guess that makes the rest failures. I'd rather be where Blackwell has us than where Robson had us, guess I just have low standards, or perhaps more realistic expectations.

But that's a very simplistic way of looking at things. A manager like Martinez at Swansea is, arguably, overachieving with what he has at his disposal. Wolves are about where you'd expect them to be, same with Reading and Brum. Paul Jewell was massively underachieving, and got the boot.

In terms of league position, we're probably about where we should be - in the hunt for promotion, whether that be automatic or through the playoffs. In terms of the football we often play, and the tactics we employ, one can't help but think that we're pissing away a lot of talent and skill, and in that sense underachieving.

It's almost like a lot of our points this season have come despite the way we play, rather than because of it.

I don't think he'll get sacked, for a multitude of reasons, not all of which I agree with.

But I think a Director of Football appointment would be made if we went up and KM would be more ruthless come Christmas time if relegation from the Premiership was a possibility.

Who the DoF would be, I have no idea :)

It seems to be one of those oft mooted things which never materialises.

Either way, promoted or not, a re-structure will happen. A DOF will be appointed ( anyone else heard the name TV?) and I also think that Gary Speed may well take over from Ellis. But Blackwell will be in post until at least Christmas, and if things are tits-up in either division at that point expect a change (probably the promotion of Speed).

I'd agree with all of the above, would be suprised to see TV in as DoF mind!

I don't think we'll ever get a transvestite as a director of football... transexuals as chair... erm... people... are another matter though ;)

if it's good enough for St. Pauli why should we be ashamed?
