Wilder wants to know what direction the club is going

I said a while back the boardroom changes coincided with our drop in form on the pitch one or two met that comment with derision. Seems like it is having an effect on Wilder if he don't know the direction the club is heading this will filter down to the players too. It will be just our luck that the Prince is a Rupee millionaire without two pound coins to scratch his arse with, maybe the reason he has bought a wank Belgian club to play with. Will McCabe have to pay him off for a lot more than the £1 he came with ? Will we need to sell Brooks in the summer to pay him off ? Will Wilder walk if we sell Brooks but have no money to push on in the summer ? How will we attract good players if any bright young talent is sold after a handful of 1st team games ?
This ownership issue needs sorting out fast or I can see next season starting without Brooks and Wilder. Typical United just when we start coming good something always comes along to fuck it all up.

Nah, not buying it. If one of those clubs drops out of the PL he's in with a shot, but no PL is taking a gamble.

However, as I've said elsewhere, Wilder needs to look at the plight of Chris Coleman before thinking the grass is greener!!

Good, I'm not selling it. ;) When Big Sam left them last summer he told the owners specifically to get CW in and build a dynasty. I think Palace asked a few other industry insiders and they all came back with positive feedback. They thought it too bigger a gamble and appointed De Boer. He failed miserably and they had to resort to safe bet of RH to get them out of trouble. The rest they say, is history. :)

It's £17m. Not £1.

For no other reason than seeing him take his stroppy attitude from Friday night to Benteke & Wilfred Zaha, I half hope you're right!!

Gidds asked some good questions there and Wilder answered every one of them as honest as he could without letting something out that doesn’t need letting out at this moment in time, that’s all you can ask for really.

He seems a tad downhearted but it’s hard to pin why that is because it can’t just be because of one shite performance. Keep your chin up Wilder, you saved us gaffer.

It's not really hard to pin though is it, he's turned the clubs fortunes around with next to no money, and worked miracles really, he can see see it like we all can, if we (boardroom) had a bit of ambition what could be achieved, we had the perfect opportunity to invest in the Jan transfer window on some quality, not mega bucks, but decent champ level to push on on our first season back but yet again we're shopping at Lidl, the guy isn't stupid, rememberhe's a fan too and will know and feel the frustration on the lack of adequate investment.

If you listen to his interview after the game it's all bourne out of frustration, and needing to bring in quality, if we don't invest and manage to keep Wilder then we will have blown our best opportunity to really do something special. If the boardroom wrangling isn't sorted and he walks, then expect a swift return to league 1,

It's very clear that Mcabe cannot continue to own a club of our size on his own, it's time for hi, to sell up to someone who can, I'm sick to death of being the also rans, the big club with potential that promises but never delivers, it's been far too long since we won or did anything, it feels all very much on a knife edge at the minute, it'll go either one way or another.

I'm pretty sure this is how Wilder is feeling at he minute.

I’m not saying your wrong but it’s pure conjecture as it stands because how can Wilder have what McCabe or the HRH doesn’t seem to have?

Wilder said he knew the budget in October for the January transfer window so he’s had ample time to sort that out and negotiate a bigger one if he could’ve got one but he knows he couldn’t so there’s no point in getting the face on about it now and keep mentioning it every week in every interview he does, it’s sounding very bitter from him. Every manager wants more money!

Maybe Wilder already knows next seasons budget ;)

Hardly any experience in the Championship but he showed he can get a team up to the top of it on limited funds, while playing an attractive cavalier style that's had Sky TV creaming their jeans to put us on! To imply his real level is lower league is unrealistic.

True but if you were a foreign owner with millions of pounds at stake.
Why would you take a risk on someone untested in the PL with hardly any relevant experience.
The only time risks are even contemplated are if it’s a sexy big name, have links to that club or someone who will accept a short term contract and used to the foreign coach style where the committee within the club buy and sell all the players.

There seems to be some really astute business men on here. Myself? ....i haven't a clue what goes on behind the scenes at our club, so thank you to all the experts on here for letting myself and others on here who are in the dark, for letting us in on the goings on.

If either West Brom or Stoke get relegated and don't change manager before the season's end, then I would expect CW would be in the list of managers to speak to in the summer. The same goes for Villa and Boro, if they don't go up. I'm not suggesting that he'd be a shoe-in for any of the jobs, but I would suspect that they would all like to talk with him. Obviously, that's if we don't go up ourselves. :)

Slightly worrying times at the moment, and fingers crossed for a positive reaction tomorrow night.

I've got the letter requesting my attendance at the Copthorne on the 3rd March, but I won't be gracing them with my presence. Individually they leave me cold, collectively they'd make my piss itch.

Can I borrow your letter? :D

Take your point on the risk at PL level, but my point was that, even though it is his first season, he's shown he is at least championship level now, he can forget about the lower leagues. And with bigger backing I'm sure he could build/rebuild a squad for someone that could storm the championship.

Purely hypothetical in my view, don't think he'll be going anywhere soon.

What's really happened in this thread is more or less everyone has said they don't know what's going on. Exactly the opposite of what you've claimed.

Opinions seem to be about Wilders comments since Friday, his budget not being enough and him not knowing the final outcome. Posters who want him in are worried about the boardroom upheaval.

Sounds to me like Wilder has had enough and is on is way out - Taken the club as far as I can ... what's happening? ... money for players? As mush as I dislike Wilder on a personal level, a gobby so and so, he's a damn good manager and will be a big loss :(

If you get to go, the room is split into around six sections.

Those on the front few rows gaze at Kev lovingly, applauding like North Korean generals. Directly behind them are the mumblers, grumblers and tutters. That's all they do apart from one or two who still ask about the Freehold. Then there's one row where the sensible people who ask questions relevant to the meeting sit.

Behind them are two rows where the "We Loved Dick Wragg, wouldn't waste our money, bloody new stand, bring cricket back" brigade in one row, and the"Let's dig Dick Wragg up and set fire to him" cabal and there junior section "McCabe out of my club" casuals.

Then there are those who like to slowly drive past car crashes who listen very carefully so they can misrepresent what's been said on here - Hello Len !

After that are the mouthy drunks with their anthem "Weers munneh gone" and the odd muttered "cunt" comment.

Somewhere in the audience is one bloke wanting to complain about the quality of the milk sachets in John Street, who keeps interrupting.

It's a rite of passage.

It was plain to see on tv when ever they showed CW he watched with a look of horror at the complete colllapse of the entire team ethos
Nothing at all worked, functions had shut down., It wasnt just bad , it was horrific.

it will need the players reacting big time to change his demeanour, our season depends entirely on their will to win
Weve seen them do it , we know its in them , they have to come up to the mark again
We have experienced players , who can urge each other on, now is the time to prove their worth

its their turn to lift Wilder up

I agree with you. Commence sense suggests he deserves a chance and I’d be pleased for him if he leaves us for a better position.
But the recent trend shows that Wilder doesn’t fit the profile of what foreign PL chairman and even PL fans want.

I’ve already said he did so much for me last season that Ill be forever grateful and respectful
In my eyes he’s won himself plenty of time, patience and understanding.
He can do whatever he wants and i’ll Still buy him a drink if I ever see him.

I suspect the club direction comments were aimed at the club and McCabe after bids for Brooks from Tottenham and Liverpool

It's the 'jam tomorrow' spiel that gets me.

United have done really well to be where they are in the league, in my opinion.

When you consider many teams who are below them in the league, the players they have and the money that's been invested, it's clear as day.

Which is why what Wilder says seems so illogical.

I don't believe for a moment that he doesn't know that, so what's his game?

You tell me.

To be honest I’m more fucked off that it quickly appears that these boardroom shenanigans have fucked up our chance of going up this season, and appear to be pissing off the best manager we have had for years.

Same old shit.
Don't let it bother you mate, I don' believe for a minute that anything that has or hasn't happened n the boardroom has had an effect on the players.

Must say i cant remember the last time i heard such a prolonged bollocking. Like wilder has given because he hasnt calmed down at all. sounds just as angry today as he did friday. For once im glad im not a sheff utd player because i guess its been tense few days & if i was a player we get a repeat of hull. Then i would bypass the dressing room because teacups really will be flying.

But how did we go so quickly from a really comfortable 2nd gear win (albeit 1st 65mins not last 25) to this predicament 3 days later where we are worried wilder is off in summer. Arguing with the board
