If justice had prevailed then Warnock would have won the opening game. Tragically the Blades were effectively relegated on the opening day of the season following Gerard's dive for a controversial penalty of intent.

To be fair to Gerrard he didn't "dive" at BDTBL, kept his feet and shot weakly, referee then intervened.
However, his diving when brushing against Kozzy at Anfield was nauseating.

In my head I remembered him diving to the ground, or maybe I just confused it with the many other diving Gerard moments. In all fairness it was 13 years ago and I've not rewatched it. I'll stand corrected.

The first 15 minutes at Tottenham was horrendous, 2-0 down and it could have been 5. We looked so far off PL standard it was embarrassing.

We haven't had that feeling at all so far this season, defensively in great shape bar a couple of silly errors. Hopefully we've got enough goals in us.

As September draws to an end, here are the stats.

September saw a home game against Blackburn where the headlines were of 3 missed penalties, before Warnock's men finally got their first win after game 7, with a thunderbolt from Jagielka.

For Wilder's men it's been a month of what should have been. Mugged by Soton to then mug Everton, so in balance the points gained/lost was fair. But the month ended in a loss to Liverpool followed by a second individual howler from Dean Henderson in four matches, when the match should have ended 0-0.

October looks tricky with away games against Watford and West Ham, with a home fixture against Arsenal sandwiched in between.

"Chris Wilder offers profuse apologies as he arrives late for his press conference. Reveals he wanted to have a drink with Jurgen Klopp to congratulate him on being named FIFA’s best men’s coach earlier this week."

Once again, mainly out of curiosity and to appreciate how good we did to nearly stay up last time, and how incredible we are doing this time round, the story of October.

October heaped yet more misery on Warnock's team as the Blades managed to pick up a solitary point away at Stuart Pearce's Man City. It's crazy to think that in that season Joey Barton would be their top scorer with 6 goals compared to their current spoils.

Further misery was heaped with back to back defeats against Everton and Chelsea with the Blades having failed to score in all 3 matches. Warnock's men had only managed 2 goals in their last 6 games by the end of the month, and still had only the 1 solitary win against 'Boro for their efforts all season.

For Wilder's men it was a month of progression and making up for what might have been against Liverpool. A hard earned draw away at Watford, who shut up shop following heavy defeats where you could have been mistaken for thinking that the Blades were the home side at Vicarage Road. The old enemy Arsenal then came to town and the Blades did not want to be licking their wounds again like they did after the Liverpool match. This resulted in an incredibly professional performance where the Blades were organised and resolute in defence and played the better football when they had the ball. Wilder's faith in starting Mousset was rewarded with the winning goal as the Blades emerged winners and pundits started to change their tunes about Wilder's men. A good away draw at West Ham in the worst football venue in the country followed to round off a solid month for the Blades. They entered November undefeated in 3 with only a solitary and undeserved loss in their last 5.

Oct under Warnock had a 0-0 against Man City. With a 2019 season perspective that is a decent result.

This tells you everything you need:

11th Dec 2006 was the game we went onto 17pts. A point on Saturday get's that total a month earlier

Not at the end of October we weren't. We went 6th in November when we beat Burnley.

I also need to correct Warnock's tally for the season, we were on 6 points, not 5.
You said ‘season to date’ though, not season until end of October.
And I like posting ‘6th’.

Beans' latest Podcast was interesting when he compared Saturday's starting line up to that of Warnock's in the his eleventh match. I'd have to be in agreement that some of Warnock's might make the squad, but none would have made the starting eleven.

We have come so far in so little time. It really is amazing.
