Wilder to Sunderland?

His stock is high. Even if he has a poor to average championship season, his progress in 3 years is unparalleled. He can afford to have a season or two with the blades and can still attract other positions.

Up to our owners to also convince him he's got something special here and we have to achieve it together. If that means giving him some additional incentive then so be it.
He's on a good contract and he's focused on taking blades back to top division. There's more to life than money and he's living the dream thousands of us blades would love to be in his position .No better thing in football than taking the club you love all the way to the promised land.
Bring on next season with the pigs to slaughter and the Leeds mob

Alright I'm really asking for trouble here but I'll say it....

Why do people think Wilder will put his love for the Blades over progress in his career?

He could probably triple his wages and be a premier league manager in 12 months time potentially, and leave us on a real high. I wouldn't bet on Sunderland approaching him, but if they did I don't think he would turn them down and wouldn't blame him, would be delighted to be proved wrong as always.
Christ you're a happy chappy, only dregs left in your glass.

Because managing Sunderland isn't progress for anyone?

If they'd survived in the PL and came knocking, it'd be a tough offer to turn down.

However, all the signs are they could enter freefall (if things were fine behind the scenes Moyes stays!).

No way Wilder takes this offer.

Now if Wenger leaves and Koeman replaces him and Everton come knocking....

Get McLaren in there, that'll be one less promotion rival to worry about

But he's 100% behind the signing of Evans. Why would he leave after sorting all that out?

Gut feeling, he wouldn't go. Yes, the money they will offer would most likely be fantastic. But he has achieved so much in such a short time. This is the job he's always coveted, so why would he leave it half done? If he thought he could take us no further, then maybe. But I just don't think he's at that point yet.

He can do better. They're a club in decline and he is on to a good thing for at least two more years with United. His stock is rising and if he gets us up again in two years he will have a job for life. If he even gets us remotely close he will have his pick of jobs.

Going there would serve no purpose other than to cash in short term. It would take a much better offer than Sunderland to get him away from Bramall Lane.

Don't take anything for granted. He'd be on 3 or4 x the money with a transfer budget of tens of millions. He also knows that most managers stock is only high for a limited time and that's when you need to cash in. Let's face it if we are bottom three by November half on here will be after his head.

As it happens I think there's another team in red and white stripes that are a more likely destination if he keeps on progressing.

5/1 is nothing to get excited about for a favourite in a next manager betting, if he goes to odds on, that's when it's likely there is something in it.

Sunderland are in free fall and are no Newcastle who bounced straight back. That club needs rebuilding from the bottom to the top. Why would The God that is Wilder leave for them no-hopers. Our potential is huge and he WILL take us all the way. He knows he has started something big here at BDTBL. Bigger than Bassett and Warnock. They were amazing but this guy is special and we have never seen football like this at The Lane. Pride, Passion and the love of The Blades will keep him here. Deluded you may say? But I believe and have faith that some decency remains

Been listening to Talksport most of the day.

They had a phone in and big discussion about the new manger to replace Moyes.
Not one studio pundit, the North East expert or Sunderland fan mentioned Wilder.

They basically said it would be a massive job for the new man to clear out about 12 players and bring in 12 new players. They said the Chairman needs to decide if he wants to go for experience or someone new.

The experienced men suggested were Pardew, Steve Bruce or even Neil Warnock.
The Portuguese manager at Hull was also suggested.

However the North East expert suggested that the fans might prefer a big name or local hero
Someone like Kevin Philips (currently assistant manager at Derby) would be risky but create a feel good factor or even Ryan Giggs and Dwight York were suggested.

I expected Chris Wilders name might come into the frame but not one suggestion.
I agree I don think there's any risk of losing Wilder for a while yet. He's not a sexy name, no experience of the Championship, nevermind the PL.

I think Wilder needs to get promoted with us and perform well in the PL before any PL clubs come calling with former club Southampton being the obvious club.

I can see sunderland being this season aston villa. & that squad needs gutting like us last season because without defoe, they could have challenged derbys 11pts. The best they can hope for is sneaking in play offs & you forget we have a sheffield derby next season 1st time for 6 (or 7 years depends on fixture comp) . You really think he going to pass up oppotunity to beat wednesday

Even Chris Wilder has not used his own name today he's so far off the radar.

He's done a job for us, if they pay us compo we could attract a manager with proven experience of the championship. What's Blackwell doing these days?

What?

Sunderland in free fall? Do you mean a bit like Northampton were when he inexplicably left Oxford?

I really hope he sticks with us because I can seriously see him taking us all the way to the promised land, with AK by his side.........at least, I HOPE so.

We have very good players and an outstanding manager. If we're going into panic mode every time there's interest from other clubs, or even rumours without substance, some of you will be nervous wrecks within months and your vocal chords will seize up.

The only solution, I'm afraid, is a return to the comfort of mediocrity with a team populated by unskilled, upanatem ragamuffins and managed by Muckanettles Nowt-Fancy. We'll be safe from predators then and we can all relax...

Because we're in the same league and Sunderland is a poisoned chalice.

Hopefully Pardew goes here and Notes goes to pigs

That's what Northampton fans were saying about Charlton, but Wilder was clearly very keen to move on despite the love he had there. I think it won't happen (shock horror) but I'm sure that his success will not have gone unnoticed by the Sunderland board, and others, and this will be a conversation to be continued throughout next season whenever a vacancy becomes available.

Was going to say much the same, wouldn't surprise me.
How this bloke keeps getting these sort of jobs is beyond me. Hull manager is a good shout.

I don't think that Silva will go there.
He is going to leave Hull as they have gone down, he has stated he came to England to manage in the premier league, not the championship.
So I would say that rules him out of the Sunderland job too.

Hull are in a better position that them as well, and he only went there to try and make a bit of a name for himself as they were pretty much doomed when he arrived. He did well more or less straight away, and completely changed the system and style of play.
Great results at home, but clearly he was getting things wrong with his away record.

Silva will end up at Watford I reckon.

If we have clubs after our manager then I think it's fair to say we will be doing well.
Long may it continue....and add to that chasing our players too.

Difference is, and I still maintain this, it will take something special to get Wilder away from us and Sunderland are as far away from special as it comes.

Yes but to be fair to Northampton, Charlton would be viewed as a massive step-up (ex Premiership, good stadium, fan base etc.)

If Wilder wasn't Sheffield United through and through then I would see that Sunderland would be a step-up, however, he has a chance here to really drive this club forward and I don't think he would forgive himself if he jumped ship now.

Agreed. We're not talking a premiership club with European aspirations or a sleeping giant etc.
