Wilder to Spurs

So what is Jose going to do that Poch couldn't, nothing perhaps. I don't think Poch has become a bad manager overnight maybe if the Spurs owners had invested as much time and energy into the team rather than the stadium rebuild they could have taken the next step from just being runners up. I think after investing so much into the stadium it was inevitable the team would suffer the owner should be taking the hit for a few seasons seems to me like they want jam on their bread and butter. Out of the London clubs I have always likes Spurs who play decent football that will change under Jose it will be win under any means fair or foul Special one my arse he did fuck all at Man U.

I hope Howe gets it because I want to see Bournemouth fall apart and go back to the old 3rd division where they came from. Then I want us to steal David Brooks off them for next to nothing because he's the most talented player we've had down there since TC and it's about time he came back home to a top Premiership club.
While ever Howe is at Bournemouth we’ve some protection from our manager being taken. Unless Bournemouth drop off the end of a cliff he’ll always be a rung above for the likes of Everton who might want to go English.
Really thought Spurs would look at Howe this time.

AnotherSpur is this as poor a decision as it seems from the outside?

Maybe a new manager could get some new contracts sorted out if he's a big enough name, but I doubt he's going to get any money.

Poch's heart hasn't been in it since the CL final. I think he wanted out after that but thought he should stay on. He obviously didn't want to resign and miss out on his £12.5mn payoff.

I blame Sheffield United personally.

Mourinho will do his usual, will be great for a couple of seasons and then get bored and force an exit.

Still, if he gets us a couple of cups in the process I can live with it.

Football Daily had Redknapp on, they asked him who should get it his reply

HR: Chris Wilder at Sheffield United,
Presenter: laughed and tried getting back to talking about "Big Names"
HR: why have you brushed that aside?
Presenter: hes done a good job, what about Mou
HR: Chris Wilder would win the premier league with the right players, but they won't gof or him, they will go for a big name who isnt as clever as him.
Presenter: yes hes done well with the squads hes had.

To get Mou they will have had to promise him mega money, why not just give that to Potch?

The fact no-one has gone for Howe suggests the same is probably true of Tufty although it depends how this season pans out 1st and foremost. Another factor which puts Howe ahead of him is that Wilder hasn't had to rebuild year in year out at this level after key players have been picked off. I still think the 'big' teams are always likely to go for managers who have been there and done it at the highest club level but I agree, the likes of Everton could be a different story.

Just heard Harry Redknapp being interviewed on Radio Five.
"So, Harry, would Jose Mourinho be a good fit for the Spurs job?"
"I'd give it Chris Wilder at Sheffield United, he's done great things, won league titles, would be perfect, but they won't give it to him, they'll give it to a big name foreigner."
"Yes, Harry, so what about Jose Mourinho."
"Give it Chris Wilder."
"But Harry, what about Jose Mourinho."
Winds me up comments like "give it to Wilder"

Disrespectful to Sheffield United, he's under contract and our manager. They talk like it's a given we'd let him go. Disrespectful to Wilder as well, he might not be interested in that particular job or whichever job they're pushing him for.

Harry Redknap adamant that Chris Wilder should have been given this job, "Chris Wilder should get the job (pundit ignores answer), don't glaze over it, I just told you0-Chris Wilder should get it at Sheffield United. He'd win titles with the right squad, but British managers will be overlooked again & they'll give it to someone less capable & clever than him."

Any mileage in the rumour that he was forced to play Kane in the CL final? ( from a Hammers fan)

First I have heard if it or anything of the sort. Unless Kane has one of those 'if I am fit, I have to be picked' clauses in his contract?

FA Cup would be the aim I reckon with Mourinho in charge. Should reinvigorate your mardy players until their contracts expire in summer, and I think he'll make you a lot more solid.

Managerial immodium.

The style might be continental Pulis at times, but compared to being embarrassed by Brighton etc it'll be a step up.

Wonder if he'll get any money, I imagine he'll want a CB. Hopefully his comments about Sheffield United on Sky the other day were only from a pundits view and he won't be after JOC and Egan.

Our motto. "Sheffield United. Helping to get managers sacked since 1889." You're welcome.

I for one wouldn't be suprised if they asked to speak to Wilder, I mean, who in their right mind wouldn't, looking at his record so far!!?!!

A club used to being in the top six? With multi-millionaire players (and agents)? A club who want near-guaranteed European football to pay for their £1bn stadium? A club who have their own scouting/recruitment netwoork? A club whose results aren't answerable to just the fans but the shareholders?

Far too much of a gamble to pick a manager unproven at the top level. They'll get Mourinho. And then realise his fire went long ago.

The FA Cup is chicken-feed, finance-wise. They need regular European football (and not the Europa Cup.)

The funny thing is, the squad is fractured. Players want out, Rose, Eriksson, Vertongen have all been kicking off lately. The thing with Mourinho is that he's terrible at man management, he breaks dressing rooms himself. Don't know how he'll fix it.

Wilders agent: got Spurs and Man U on the phone Chris.

Wilder: Tell em I'm having mi hair cut.

I don’t think Lampard, Terry, Drogba etc thought he was a bad man manager. Or any of his other players until he went to Man U. They turned him into Roy Keane, ultimately undermining him. No manager can deal with every difficult player, not even Wilder and Man U were toxic. Brian Clough was supposed to be one of the best man managers ever but he couldn’t deal with the Leeds pricks.

That was the reason he left chelsea, totally lost the dressing room. Weren't they 14th or something daft like that when he left.

Yes, forgot about that. They didn’t like to work hard in training and the rebellion was led by Hazard as far as I can recall. That fat little fuck who’s probably giving Zidane problems at Real.
It’s quite ironic that there are rumours the Spurs players were tiring of the amount of work Poch made them do and he’s been replaced by someone with a similar work ethic.
If I was Jose I’d bomb out Eriksen, Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Aurier in the JTW. I’d make it very clear I considered they were responsible for getting Poch the sack and they won’t be doing it to me.

Of course he’d love to manage some world class players! What manager wouldn’t?!?
I reckon he's the kinda "teacher to nurture his own pupils".We are witnessing the development, with each game, a growth in class. World class players are not born so😉 IMHO.

I don't think they got him the sack, they clearly wanted to leave, but clubs are waiting for their contracts to run down, so they couldn't sell them.

I’ve read the first 200 or so comments about this on the BBC website.

Managers suggested for the job
Mourinho
Wenger
Benitez
Eddie Howe
even Neil Warnock got mention or two. 😂

No one’s talking about Wilder.
Good. Let's be careful what we wish for😎
