I was looking forward to seeing a back 5 after the deadline day signings. Sounds like it's not even on Chris' radar as a possibility.

He was a bit obtuse on that for me. Said he's going to pick the formation that 90% of the supporters would pick. I'm not sure we have a settled view on that? A large lump of us, me included, would go 3/5/2. Does he mean that? Some would go 4/3/3. Does he mean that? Couldn't work that bit out to be honest.

3/5/2 would make us way harder to beat I think. Tanganga/Mee/McGuinness is pretty formidable at this level, I'd say.

I think the lack of strikers will mean it's not going to be a 2

Reading between the lines, basically when Tom Davies and Arblaster are back there going to start and Matos and Souarme will be going on loan in Jan🤷‍♂️

Of course it’s not. Arrogant Stubborn Chris has a point to prove that his 4 2 3 1 will work and it’s going to bloody well work until we win a game and show up the doubters and Selles and Cannon will fucking play for the next 3 seasons until he’s scored 3 goals. It’s what I hate about the guy but it’s ingrained in his make up. Fine when it works and he has the players. Tedious and frustrating otherwise. Chris remember your first season. You had to change. You did. Think again.

Thank God we’ve actually got a capable manager back.

As he quite rightly states, the squad is now too big.

This is the difference between someone who looks after the club and someone who is just interested in the first team.

Oné and Marsh should be banging out 30+ games in League One this season to aid in their development. Those AI players should be out getting some senior games so they can be evaluated at Christmas to see if they can add to the mix in the second part of the season.

This is just one example of the job being too big for Sellés. He’s wasted 4 months of a number of players’ careers but not doing this.

I wouldnt totally blame Selles for that when we had RND and Bindon as starting CBs in our first match
We signed 5 players in the last week of the transfer window. If that last week of the window hadnt gone to plan we might have needed One and Marsh as part of the squad

Not sure how much Selles had to do with incoming and outgoing. An experienced manager might have stronger opinions on this but I am not sure how much Selles can be blamed for the likes of Marsh being stuck in the ressies and One in a limbo between the two

First match conference, first usage of “punters” 😐
Always amazes me how much offence some people take at being called "punters".. Sure, it has some uncomplimentary meanings but it's weird they would be the first thing to spring to mind. Take your pick from these I guess but it's obvious to anyone with basic comprehension skills that he uses it in sense 2

None of those mean fan or fanatic.

You just made the point for Danetheblade.

Before we get too far up ourselves, take a look at some of the more negative definitions of the word fanatic - would you prefer to be associated with those?
At the end of the day, people can call us punters, fans or fanatics, and it’s entirely up to us as individuals to decide whether we want to take the approach of searching for something to take offence about, or to interpret the term in the way in which is has pretty obviously been offered.
Wilder’s return has provoked a resurgence in energy and interest of the majority of our match going fans, and I suspect in some of the players as well. I for one view that as a great thing, and hope fervently that this translates to the pitch tomorrow, and three points by tomorrow night. Wilder is not the most skilful practitioner of the English language, but I’m sure that most of the people in the ground tomorrow will view him as a force for the good of our team.

Are we really discussing this 'fan' 'punter' bollocks ad nauseam?

I'm not insulted in any way shape or form because Wilder is a Blade and if he's referencing us in his presser why would he want to disrespect anybody?

Yep. I’d rather he just say “fans” or “blades”
I don’t think we will need fans at the game tomorrow - it’s forecast to be much cooler than today. Don’t panic though - you won’t need your heavy coat…I don’t want to fan your fears in that respect.
And oh, a Health and Safety reminder….no blades allowed in the ground tomorrow.
😜
