Think he basically gave the formation away for Saturday, sounds like same as last season & getting players back in familiar roles. I’d expect something like:

Cooper

Godfrey
Tanganga
McGuinness
Burrows

Peck
Matos

Ogbene
O’Hare
Hamer

Campbell

Bench: Cannon, Ings, Chong, Barry, Brooks, Soumare, Seriki, Mee, Davies

Makes sense initially to go back to basics & have some experience in the team. I also don’t mind the thought of Barry coming on after 60 minutes to run at a tired defence & Hamer moving central for O’Hare.

We need our bench to have more of an impact this season. Hopefully One/Brooks/Chong/Ings/Soumare/Seriki can be useful off the bench.

Ogbene fit now? He wasn’t in the squad last Friday

It annoys me how much I like Chris. I am questioning his return, I hope he shines but I'm even more sceptical than I was when he came back last time.

But I do like the guy.

To judge an experienced player on one bad match where the whole team were poor is unfair. Let’s see who CW picks and then how good they are.
Yeah that’s fair I guess, but he was monumentally bad so it’s going to take one hell of an improvement for me to warm to him.

The quote from Wilder going through the squad suggests his primary formation will remain 4-2-3-1, Godfrey is still seen as a RB and that Bindon is unlikely to see further minutes. Also doesn’t seem too confident in his midfield options as he spoke about needing Davies back who we know will get injured again shortly after anyway.

Having just watched it back again with more time to concentrate on it I got the impression there were a few thinly veiled criticisms of Selles in the interview.
Things like " games of football are not won on a computer screen or clipboard "
The stats about duels won and running.
The bit about having to get them organised and play players in the right positions
The talk about needing to know your players and that you have to try to build relationships with them

Might be wrong but I get the impression as a fan he wasn't too happy with what's been going on.
He also ducked one of the final questions about whether he felt sorry for Selles.

Few noticeable comments..

Seemed to have alot of praise for Tom Davies and needing him in midfield. I agree with him but he needs to be fit so hopefully he's close.

Mentioned having 4x CBs with 2x right footers and 2x left footers. Guessing he's not counting Bindon?
R - Tanganga/McGuinness
L - Mee/Zätterström

Seems a fan of the signings and the 14 signed he'd probably want anyway.

Tom Davies will always have fitness issues, it’s just the way he’s built. He has the DNA of a digestive biscuit.

It’s a shame too as he’s a very good player who I’ve always rated.

It’s cos he dunt ger enuf meat. Bleedin veggie. Can you get Vern to introduce him to one of your famous Offaly Good range of sausages?

There’s not much of anything you can describe as meat in those either.

I am launching my Roadkill Platter tonight though. Vern is just peeling it off the Discovery now.

Erm….I mean responsibly sourcing the finest free range meats.

Well, they were run over on the A57 so that’s free range right?…

Absolutely cracking interview. There are always some supporters who want the world hopefully the past few months of watching united they have realised be careful what you wish for. Warnock said in his book you'll only know what you have got when it's gone. I believe this applies to Chris more than any other manager we have had. He needs to be given time especially in the position we are in. It is a big ask to make the playoffs this season (would surely be one of the greatest feats in our history). So allow Wilder and knill to build like when we came up from league one.

Bumped into Brian Deane today and had a quick chat. He's delighted Tufty is back. Had no faith in Selles and said he just didn't fit the club. 'Us Yorkshire folk know what we are and what we want and it wasn't that type of manager'.
He's such a nice bloke.

What does the scorer of the first ever Premier League goal and winner of England caps know?

The anti-Wilders on here know far more about football, due to their hard years of keyboard experience.

Ahhh the old “you’ve never played so you can’t possibly have an opinion” trope.

I’ve stated many times that he shouldn’t have come back and the reasons why.

But he is back, and I will back him as I have backed every manager we have had in my 40 years of watching football (which apparently is irrelevant).

I don’t and never will understand people saying it could only be him.

Having said that, I’m certain we will improve from where we find ourselves currently.

My ire isn’t directed at Wilder, but is most certainly directed at the gross incompetence of COH who shat the bed, binned off one of their core principles and raided the local care home for signings

Wilder will have a tough job cleaning this mess up, despite what you might think, I wish him well, sincerely

Judging by the “us Yorkshire folk” comments, I think he knows that we’re stuck in the 80s, unable to move past bladey blade managers. Which is exactly why we’ll never progress as a club. :)

Edit: will also add, I’ve made peace with that fact, we’ve shown we’re not a serious entity in this game from actions we’ve done recently, and I’m okay with it. Is what it is, embarrassing for COH

Mentioned once or twice about his intentions to put Hamer where he belongs rather than where he's been playing recently.

I haven't finished the interview, think about 10 mins left or so but I was expecting him to make some basic run of the mill comments "yeah credit to Ruben he's a great guy, spent alot of time with him but it just didn't work out" or something to that effect but I never noticed it (unless I missed it)

Based on what I've heard he seems a little pissed off that they're in the position they're in to be honest. It almost sounds like he feels he's had to be brought back in just to sort the fuck up. He even mentioned at one point he didn't necessarily need to come back if he didn't want to
