Considering the sales we needed to make and how it gutted the creativity I think we are doing very well 🤷‍♂️

I don't see what another manager could do really other than play Donovan more.
The argument is that if we’ve lost that much creativity from the team then why sign players like Choudhary, Doherty, Riedewald (all on decent wages) when other players were available?

He prefers neat and tidy footballers rather than creative players - even the forwards he’s signed like Diaz aren’t exactly flying wingers, and this is why we’re getting served up turgid slow sideways and backwards football.

When you see that Moylan went for <£2m and will be on a league one wage it makes you question our recruitment even more. This is exactly the sort of player the wilder of 5 years ago would have been all over.

Serki and One being injured makes us look far less youthful. Shame One is out again.

Sky had a stat about how little we create over various seasons pre game. That's including a season we finished 3rd and the spell under Wilder last year which had us around play offs in that time. Winning points is as important as creating lots of clear cut chances.

Does mean the margins are slim but in the main it works well in the championship.

Some of the posts on here are utterly bizarre

Wilder wanted Donovan to play crap so he could be right about not starting him - what!?

How about a few mitigating facts to mull over.

Having your best players sold out from under you - wiped from history apparently.

No cash for quality replacements - carry on regardless.

Points reduction hanging over you - get on with it.

Ok, I'm a CW fan and always will be and yes he has made mistakes. Who hasn't?

But some of the crap I'm reading on here is just unreal.
- wilder didn’t rate brooks, which has been pretty clear from various interviews. Hamer has been leaving every window since we were relegated and our best football last season came with him out of the team. O’Hare was a loss but we were always going to have to balance the books this season and everyone at the club must have understood this.

- no cash for replacements will have been known back in January last year when it was clear we had another season in the EFL without parachutes. We still have a top half championship budget, the criticism comes from how this budget has been deployed - on poor, old, injury prone players. For years Wilders defenders have referenced his claimed ability to spot a rescue project like Didzy or Fleck and we’ve seen nothing of that for the last few seasons.

- as of today there is no threat of any points deduction, regardless of what Abdullah is briefing to the media. The IFR are happy and the EFL are looking into it - neither of which appear to be in any great rush to do anything about it.

A lot of us are judging a manager based on what we see today, in front of us, and not some mythical golden era from six years ago. The football is no better than anything served up by Blackwell or Clough. We’re not going to threaten the top end of the league (and even if we did, what’s the prize? Another season of getting pasted 5-0 every week?) so most of us would like to see some decent entertaining football, even if that means we don’t come away with quite as many points.

Most of the fans just want to see something change and not this relentless regression we currently have.

I genuinely do not understand why people feel the need to be so defensive about Wilder- especially in the wake of (increasingly fleeting) decent performances.

He should be held accountable when things that are well within his umbrella of responsibility aren't going well- and whilst he should also be praised where appropriate, one decent performance against a team that are all over the place doesn't suddenly invalidate the legitimate and very real concerns that have been expressed by many about how we've been approaching games so far.

The weirdly sycophantic behaviour of people acting like Wilder should be absolved of any criticism because we beat Wrexham 1-0 is crazy to me, and I'm sincerely astounded by the number of people who'd seemingly happily see our club stagnate as long as Wilder is at the helm.

Because the Wilder sycophants see every win as a moral victory for him rather than 3 points for the team. They see it as an opportunity to try and score cheap points in their quest to control the narrative around a manager who’s had his day. They are incapable of climbing out of his backside and seeing things objectively. They are Chris Wilder supporters more than they are Sheffield United supporters. We are a prehistoric, backwards thinking club from top to bottom in our approach to everything and nobody drives that more then Wilder

Is having a different opinion defensive or just having a different opinion? As it stands 3 points off play offs 7 off autos yet people talk like we are fighting relegation

Absolute bollocks, this suggests that I’ve been a Chris Wilder supporter for over 60 years, the logic of which is tenuous at best….

He’s clearly talking about now/recently. It suggests nothing of the sort. There may not be any balance but he’s referencing a small number of zealots on here, as small a number who believe personal abuse/nastiness towards our manager is acceptable.

Chris Wilder is 59.

I know

and….

I know.

Those were my points, Sean.

I rarely single out individual posters, as everyone is entitled to to an opinion, but RandomBlade I have to ask, what exactly are you trying to achieve on this thread, aside from literally criticising fellow fans who dare to have a difference of opinion?

All these “did you go” and “plastic fans” nonsense does nothing other than file up those targeted and drive a wedge even further down the fan base.

You’re a Wilder fan, we get it, but does that mean that everyone who isn’t is therefore subject to your multiple ranting a back? Are you trying to change people’s opinions? Because it’s working less in your favour than you seem to think.

I didn’t go, and I’m not a CW fan. Beating a poor Wrexham side at home by a tap in to an empty net doesn’t move that dial one iota. His tactics have been poor since the 90 point season, his pressers embarrassing, his signings shocking for the most part, and most crucially he’s stubborn, seemingly immune to criticism, and approaches games like he’s got no clue who his best eleven are.

It IS ok to look at the evidence and arrive at the conclusion that while he’s achieved great things previously, he’s nowhere near the same person he was. Strip away the support of Knill, the solid defence of Anel and Soutta, and the creativity of countless players, and he’s badly exposed as having a very rough plan A, and nothing further to add.

If your car broke and a mechanic fixed it once, then broke it several times after, do you keep going back because they fixed it that first time?

It’s madness, and by targeting people of such an opinion you’re actually making the situation worse.
Posts like that load of crap are the reason im here. Thats an opposing opinion to yours, and others, yet you dont like it, but I have to. Hows that work then?

There have always been a small number of trolls on here. They come & go. Now we have another one. That’s all it is. Sooner or later he’ll get bored or get kicked off for posting something whilst drunk. Until then, there’s always the ignore button.
Scottish independence cant come soon enough.

Spot on, but you wont convince the tikka takka brigade on here pal.

Then theres the opposite, which is just as bad, if not worse.

Disagree. Me (and most fans I know) want United to win first and foremost. If we get a good performance that’s a bonus, but winning is key.

Playing well but losing isn’t enjoyable for me, and I think most - not all - fans would be on this side of the fence.

To what end? Make the playoffs so wilder can bottle it at Wembley again? Get promoted so he can spunk money on players like Rodwell, Brewster, Freeman, Morison etc? Get battered 5-0 every week and he walks out in a mards halfway through the season again?

We’ve seen it all before. We want something new.

The opposite? You mean people who are Sheffield United supporters more than Chris Wilder sycophants. You think that’s worse?
It must be the asphyxia from having your head firmly planted firmly into Tufty’s ringpiece
Yes I mean the frothing at the gob anti Wilder mob like you. You arent Sheffield United supporters at all, just Wilder haters first. Real Sheffield United supporters stick by the club through thick and thin, through good times and bad times. Managers come and go, ive stuck by all of them, even the last two.
You should maybe try it and prove your support instead of just bitching about Wilder.

Excellent post!

The thought of us stepping anywhere near the PL with Wilder and his recruitment team buddies having access to another huge ££ warchest is beyond unthinkable.

I just feel like if he did a Hull and hauled us up through the play offs which would be some achievement, his first actions would be to sign BBD on a perm and make sure Choudhury was tied down on a juicy 3 year contract.

Wilder was one of the last two managers 🤷‍♂️
I prove my support by following my team up and down the country for the best part of 40 years. If I want to voice my honest OBJECTIVE opinion on a forum that is all about voicing opinions then I will.
Only saying nice things about Wilder and attacking anybody with a different opinion doesn’t make you a better supporter than anybody else. It’s a long way down off that high horse

A PUBLIC AND FORUM APOLOGY TO MR CHRISTOPHER JOHN WILDER.

It’s all got a bit heated on here recently so I’ve been thinking rather than reacting.

Having considered in depth and detail many posts on this forum including my own, I apologise for any posts which may be hurtful, derogatory and/or inappropriate comment upon either your professional or personal conduct.

I acknowledge that in fact, just because you manage the team that I support, I have no right to question how you do your job because it is your job and you answer to your employers. I may have a difference of opinion on how that job is done, but that should be expressed without anger or insult.

I acknowledge that we all have our different personalities, foibles, inadequacies and weaknesses and they are of no interest nor consequence when commenting on matters of Sheffield United.

I acknowledge that it’s a tough gig and if and when you, in my opinion get it wrong, you are not doing it deliberately as we both have the same common goal.

Couple of last managers has been sacked did the same thing, they were unable to make any change to lineups, formations nor tactics. They did same (losing) things from game to game.

Now we see Wilder has been able to make few changes and even gain some success with them. So there is still hope i quess.

Your opinion isnt objecive at all, its objectionable. Only saying bad things about Wilder and attacking anyone with a different opinion doesnt make you a better supporter than anyone else. Its a long way down off that high horse isnt it?

The football is no better than anything served up by Blackwell or Clough

If you genuinely think that the passing football we are currently playing, is similar to Blackwell's hoof, then there is no reasoning with you.

By the way, be careful when you get near the edge of the world- you don't want to fall off.

I know you are, you said you are but what am I 🤦‍♂️

Anyway I’d love to continue this school playground bollocks but I’m off to throw darts at a picture of Wilder’s face 👍
Have a wonderful day 😘😘😘😘

Sticking by the club doesn’t mean blindly supporting the manager no matter what though- if anything truly supporting the club means voicing your opinion when things aren’t going so well.

Chris Wilder ≠ Sheffield United Football Club.
