Thread with some interesting responses from people who support other clubs

I also heard that Berge was also coming to us as a stepping stone

People can write what they want, footballers and managers have ambition, but they also want to play for a club where everything clicks.

They want a challenge, but when they reach a club which is progressing and has done special things the last few years, but is also on the verge of something so special that the club will be on a completely new level for years to come, then why leave

I used to worry that Wilder or our players would get poached. Some will want to leave, that’s natural, but we’re now in perhaps a financially better position than many other clubs in this division... because we’re not ruining the club with wasters.

Media can write what they want but if we’re this close to Europe and possibly the champions league, then the only thing they’ll be writing this summer is how players from West Ham, Palace and Man U will be wanting to join us

I could see Wilder wanting the Man Utd job tbf, but not with Woodward in charge, and only when he feels his work is done with The Blades (i.e. no chance of this happening for the next 5 years). Genuinely believe without too many hitches, Wilder will make us a top 6 team (already looks like he could, but i mean regularly!)

Putting aside the various reasons that are attributed as to why Wilder should leave - ambition/money/more chance of success (apologies for missing out other reasons that have been bandied about ad nauseam) - when you consider the squad building that has happened, wouldn't you think that Wilder (as well as Knill) would wish to see this through (assuming there's ever an end to the notion of ongoing re-building) and enjoy the end product, whenever this happens?

For what it's worth, I'd venture that it's going to take another 2/3 seasons before we see a side that Wilder will have built based on the demands of the Prem. Listening to CW in a recent interview, when he explains that with the rise through Div 1, then the Championship, and now the Prem, he has bought players fit for purpose, where there may have been an emphasis on British players, but now he can look outside of this bubble and consider players from the whole of Europe, perhaps the world.

I can write stuff on the internet too.

"Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Manchester United legend and incumbent manager at Old Trafford was not always destined for such a glittering career, adored by Mancunians within the glittering floodlights of the Red side of town. From humble beginnings, 'OGS' as he is affectionately known was once on a different path in life. His Mother, Sandra, Kiveton born and bred had married young, meeting a dog groomer called Malc. A young love blossomed but local ties soon turned sour when members of the then burgeoning Kivo Massive crew mistook Malc's grooming business to mean that he was interfering with canines in a less than tasteful manner.

Intimidated and disgruntled, the pair eloped to Norway in seek of a fresh start. It was there that young Ole was conceived and birthed. Sandra and Malc eventually sought new business ventures and introduced the potato waffle to Norwegians. Business was initially hard, and the family temporarily survived on the waffles they were struggling to flog. However, times changed and local palates diversified and industry eventually boomed. Young Ole was due to inherit a multimillion waffle empire in his homeland before football came a'knockin'."

Doesn't mean it's true.

I never knew that. You learn something new everyday. Just think.

Put CW in charge of England's Rugby team and sort them out. 20 minutes in and I can't stands no more.

So why would CW leave a club that he is universally adored at and go somewhere, were you are only ever 5 games away from the sack?
Stupid London centric journo.

As if turning the Blades into Champions League regulars wasn't enough...

You could produce various reasons why Manure are bigger and better than us and even Wet Sham - bigger ground, longer in PL, bigger budget to buy players, may be current squad better than ours ( on Paper anyway), more potential? And able to pay manager lots more money but Palace??? Shitty little club, with shitty little ground, smaller crowds, no potential, achieved bugger all other than just surviving in PL for a few seasons.... why the hell would Wilder want to go to Palace (or knowing him Manure or WH) unless the board stifled
his ambitions for SUFC?

If the club were standing still and just trying to survive in the Premiership eventually you could see Wilder leaving, even it was a potentially risky move, because I think he would back himself to be successful. But and it is the biggest but possible, that is not the case, the summer and recent January window, show that the club is trying to move forward. The extent to which we do not know but Wilder knows and he has just signed a new contract which does suggest that he sees a future and a challenge with the blades. He is going nowhere, the journey is not complete!

If any of the big clubs come calling he would be daft not to take it.

Loved this

It could be argued Leicester are a top team, recent succesful history, (ignoring the financial ripping off that has been forgotten about by the media) constantly top half in the division, very good manager, attract good players. Yet still not considered to be top elite, yet in general they've out performed Man U, Arsenal & Chelsea. So what makes those 3 be classed as the level we strive to be? Bigger grounds and crowds, sounds a bit like Wednesday just on a larger scale!

I'm not sure about us winning the league but we can get to Leicester's level providing the management are backed as they have been. I have no doubt, meanwhile Man U remain in termoil for the money they spend

Rodgers left Celtic for Leicester, so I think they are a much more attractive proposition to a manager than we will probably give them credit for. They're one outside the 'big 6' I'd be worried about if they came knocking. Aside from them, nobody worries me. Top 6 come in he's gone, it's the level we all strive for, Chris is no different and nobody would begrudge him that opportunity.

WHY would Wilder ever go to Palace or West Ham though? What would he possibly achieve there that he couldn't here? They're not even better teams ffs, nevermind clubs.

Palace Chairman - Wilder is our new manager
Zaha Bye
Wilder Get fucking gone nobhead
Palace fans Oh well time for another latte.

See I’m not too worried about CW going anywhere, for the same reason that no-one came in for our players, (seriously) in the January window. CWAK and the squad are good at what we do, we are the sum of our parts but it is questionable if our players could fit into other systems and be as effective. More so the point that if CW went elsewhere, (Wet Spam for example) he would want to play his way…..would he get the time to overhaul another Premiership side and completely change the way they play or would they rather employ another “name” to come in and coach the existing players/system a bit better than the bloke they had just sacked?

CW and the players are good for SUFC and we are good for them. Put the players we want on decent Premiership wages and they will not even think about going anywhere else.

Don't underestimate someone offering you treble money.

The tweet doesn’t say what the OP suggests.

All that sand, so many vaginas....
