11/218/1 to win the league. 5/1 for promotion.
With Skybet.
Actually it was Rip Van WinkleWe did this last time… Brewster.
No it wasn’t.Actually it was Rip Van Winkle
The conversation was about us being or not being one of the Favs before the season started. Hence I showed the pre season odds for us and not what we are priced at now.
I'd argue keeping us comfortably in the prem earns him a long contract.Has he not earnt it? Nobody predicted we would where we are. He should be rewarded, him, the backroom and players have been immense so far.
Nothing towards you HB, but reading this board makes me despair a little about modern footy. We are pushing for autos, exceeding all expectations and still folk don't want to give those delivering this performance.
Those not wanting Wilder to stick around only need to look towards Stoke to see what chopping and changing gets you.
Wilder interview today is spot on, winning is what matters, style of play and entertainment come a distant 2nd and 3rd to me. Good football = winning football, as taught to me by Harry Bassett
I was just comparing the odds swing at this stage of the season and so far the bookies have underestimated our chances by a long way, hopefully it carries on UTBThe conversation was about us being or not being one of the Favs before the season started. Yes mate vastly underestimated us, I got us at 18s for the league and 5s for promotion before the season started. Got them in accumulators though and a couple of teams are not firing at the moment so cash out is not great, if those two teams start picking up I’ll have a very good cash out option thanks to the blades price if we keep up the form.I was just comparing the odds swing at this stage of the season and so far the bookies have underestimated our chances by a long way, hopefully it carries on UTB
He would have managed Man Utd if he was.If Wilder changed his name to Christino de-Silva Hammerköpft he would be very much rated a great manager and tactical genius.
Good job they don’t listen to you and they actually have an idea what they should do.Not this again, no one’s taking him. Let him stay and work for it instead of giving him a new contract every time we win a few games. We made this mistake in his first spell!
They’ll be over the moon in a year’s time when he’s walking away with a pay off then won’t they!Good job they don’t listen to you and they actually have an idea what they should do.
Simply not trueHe would have managed Man Utd if he was.
Agree, I thought Berge was a van winkle target didn’t think he had any input in BrewsterNo it wasn’t.
Brewster was one of the leading lights in the age group that came through with the likes MGW and won multiple age group championships. Had he never had all those back to back injuries who knows what he might have been. Sadly, it looks like, at Bramall Lane at least, we'll probably never know either.Name me a Premiership club who hasn’t got an expensive flop in their squad.
We spent a huge amount on Brewster and at the time we all agreed with Wilders decision.
Wilder has bought & brought some of the best players we’ve seen at this club in recent years.
Unfortunately not every deal works out & when you’re in the Premiership the ones that don’t work out tend to be expensive flops. I think he’s got enough credit in the bank though to forgive him for 8/9 bad ones when he’s had 20/30 good ones.
Giving him a new deal is the best decision all around, clubs need certainty it perform at their best. I don’t think that new deal should be much more than two years though.
If they sack him of course he will be due compensation. What’s your point? They’ll be over the moon in a year’s time when he’s walking away with a pay off then won’t they!
Southgate never achieved what Wilder has done in club football.Simply not true
And why would that be? To keep him on his toes? The average football managers job is 18 months at best.I’d be happy to wait until the end of the season, but if the new owners do want to extend him now, it should only be for next season with an option for the club to extend a further year.

If it wasn’t ‘Wilder the Blade’ no one would be falling over themselves to offer him keys to the city and a job for life, so that argument works both ways.If CW didn't have previous with us, what would you say? If we'd brought in a complete new entity, last November and they'd overseen the transition and guided us to the top of the division, would you still be saying the same?
I’d rather we don’t offer him a long contract that will only serve to make him richer upon leaving. We did this last time and his request on leaving according to the owner at the time was for a £4m payment (I don’t for 1 minute believe this is what he ended up with). If they sack him of course he will be due compensation. What’s your point?
What he did do is take is take a load of league one players and took them to 9th position in the prem ,remember ?If it wasn’t ‘Wilder the Blade’ no one would be falling over themselves to offer him keys to the city and a job for life, so that argument works both ways.
He’s guided us to the top of the division below the one we were in when he took over, yes I know we’d already signed our own PL death warrant with the summer 2023 transfer dealings but it’s hardly a stretch to say that we’d have been near the top this season given the obvious advantage in resources we’d have relative to other teams.
I’m not criticising the job he’s done so far but it’s not like he’s taken a bunch of league 1 players and got them to the top of the Championship. Some perspective is required.
