The new owners need to get him signed up, on a 4 or 5 year deal, so he can build a dynasty.

We should be top given 2 points off us, all this with 2 of the worst strikers ever seen in professional football and an injury list longer than Vanessa Feltz belt.

Americans sort it out.

You know he doesn’t care for left wing do gooders?

:)

Wilder should not be "building" anything, the first priority of the owners should be to put into place a 21st century scouting/recruitment team distinct from the first team coaching staff. If Wilder doesn't like that idea he can go when his contract is up

If it were not for Chris Wilder, we probably would still be languishing in League 1, and I truly believe that.

He's not perfect but he's given many of us the highs we never thought we would see. Those calling him a dinosaur, he got us 9th in the Premier League, still feels unbelievable and maybe that's why some forget so easily.

It’s a good job he didn’t listen to United World. Some of the crap they brought in. The recruitment improved the moment Wilder came back. I’d definitely like him to be part of those decisions based on his record so far

The PL recruitment was really poor overall. Only 1 of the players we paid a fee for left at the club.

Berge
McBurnie
Mousset
Callum Robinson
Luke Freeman
Osborn
Brewster
Ramsdale
Burke
Bogle
Lowe

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but we used the limited funds we had. If you look at all the Premier League teams, you'll find that they all have expensive flops in their squads; not every signing can be a success, even with the best scouting systems.

  • Ramsdale: Profit made.
  • Berge: Decent financial return and a significant part of the promotion-winning team.
  • McBurnie: Had a good first season and was a key part to the promotion team.
  • Bogle & Lowe: Both repaid their value. Wilder recently mentioned that the combined deal was £5 million, and we sold Bogle for £8 million to Leeds, where he helped us achieve promotion.
  • Mousset: Repaid the majority of his value in his first season.
  • Osborn: A budget squad player who contributed to our promotion.

On the other hand, Robinson, Freeman, Brewster, and Burke can be considered expensive flops; he got those wrong.

In his first season with the majority of the players you've mentioned, we finished in the top ten. He has completely rebuilt two squads from scratch—the first one dominated League One, and this one is performing well so far.

I don’t believe that selling players for huge profits is always necessary, as long as they contribute to the club's success that outweighs their costs. I would estimate that there are over 20 players in this category that Wilder has signed.

I think our European and worldwide scouting needs significant improvement, but I trust Wilder’s judgment on players, despite the occasional mistake, and I would still want him involved in the decision-making process.

IF we get promoted, he certainly deserves another crack at the premier league. Let him bring a few players in over the summer etc. But if we're bottom at Christmas, getting smashed week in week out, struggling to get a kick of the ball (a la last season) then it's time for something brand new. No promotions from within, it'll be time start fresh with a new management team, a new coaching set up, new ideas, new identity and so on.

I love Chris, he's given us some incredible seasons over the years, but I can't take another year like the last one! Obviously there's no guarantees that a new manager would suddenly make us competitive but I'd like to see us try something different IF we're embarrassing ourselves again.

Alternatively, if we're improving and enjoying things again like 19/20 then build him a fucking statue!

I'm definitely more towards the McBurnie & Mousset buys were a net negative for us given the fees involved, but wouldn't die on that hill especially re McBurnie. We definitely didn't get the most out of McBurnie during his time with us for whatever reason.

I think the telling sign here is that our record when stretching the bids for players into the bigger numbers, we seem to really have less success than you would be wanting for such outlays. That might be a Wilder issue, it might be a wider recruitment issue. Given the consequences of the failed buy of Brewster, I'd be very very wary of just letting Wilder & the current recruitment team have at it.

I think he's doing an amazing job, I'm so happy he's back.

Still, doesn't need a new contract because there's no chance another club will take him. Just no advantage to the club.
Whether another club will take him is irrelevant in my book. We shoujd be miles off the top two in comparison to the squads of Leeds and Burnley. Its just common sense to me that you reward good performance with a new and extended deal. I'd give Wilder 11/10 for how he is doing quite frankly b

I wonder if it’s CW, down to earth int boozer blokey bloke isn’t cut out for the prima Donna footballers who maybe look down on him

Give him a rag tag bunch with summat to prove and they’ll run through a wall for him

Give him a multi millionaire and they just don’t click

He was very emotional when he was applauding the fans after the match. Not sure if it was Bachmann's injury, it looked like a farewell
On the BBC website he said he was feeling emotional but he seemed to be referring to the shift the players had put in.

He said there's too much emphasis put on style and performance, end of the day you've got to win.

I'm 100% with you on your assessment of him, we are exceeding expectations. Just don't need to tie him down for years only to sack him in 7 months.
