Wilder - 'January can't come soon enough'

Who are "his favorites" and who would you play in their place?

I think you'll find he's not over burdened with credible options to replace "his favorites"
peck and campbell for a start and he wont drop mcguinness or ogbene all 4 should have been benched 4 games ago tanganga needs to be played at cb his best position ridiculous not playing seriki at rb and continuing with mcguinness hes one of the worst centre backs ive seen in a red and white shirt and believe me ive seen a few in my time soumare has done nothing wrong for me but can hardly get a look in wilder needs to sort it and quick

I believe he managed to con the Yanks into thinking we were a well run, "Premier League" ready club which of course was helped by us being in a top 3 position when they took over.
Let the buyer beware. If they didn’t undertake adequate due diligence on a deal of that size it’s entirely on COH, certainly not on PA.

If you dont play Campbell who the fuck plays up front ?

Yeah what is wilder supposed to do with this squad of mainly players he’s signed and has been linked with in the past?

Just admit he’s a shit manager now and we need to move on.

Love how the Wilder bashers are twisting things to suit their narrative. Whilst those facts are factually correct, i don't see Wilder entering the season with x1 CF and x0 RBs...

Could/should he be doing better? Absolutely and he should be feeling quite a bit of pressure but the vitriol and irrational dislike for him from a small section of the fan base is extremely weird.

The biggest worry is how badly Wilders targets in the summer are doing. QPR fans want Dunne dropped, Darling is playing appallingly at Norwich and Mepham is in and out at West Brom. I'm really not sure much changes if we'd have brought those 3 in over what we have.

The recruitment is awful and has been for years. A few good signings last season when we had a bigger budget than most clubs doesn't change that. Hopefully he can pull some rabbits out of the hat but this idea everything will be fine in January isn't based on any evidence
Surely not, if we signed those 3 players we’d have been top of the league and not conceded a goal I heard?!

Just been on the official site & they’re feeling VERY optimistic about our January turnaround 👀

Bang on the money mate
Weirdly, wasn’t that Leicester game where Ndiaye made his debut? (Unless I’m dreaming of a different season where we got our arses handed to us repeatedly and Hecky gave him his debut) In a kind of way of proving we didn’t have enough? . . . If I’m wrong about Ndiaye then see Hackford at Palace.

I think the chasm that we tried to bridge broke Wilder in that second season. I think the pragmatic Wilder 2.0 was a result of repeatedly getting broken on by pacy athletes and getting ripped apart.

I don’t know what the answer is but we need a consistent approach and I’d go with the get a bunch of fast, six foot athletes and teach them to play footy route. The Palace v Hecky 11 for example. That was seen as a ‘winnable’ one but they were streets ahead of us and although maybe not exciting we’re so obviously a 11-16 kinda team compared to us being a rag tag bunch like Escape to Victory but you need to win that one game a dozen times and we just sold our Pele to Marseille’s and unfortunately John Wark and Ossie Ardiles didn’t happen to be in the building by chance when our recruitment team canvassed the room for who might want to have a stab at forming a footy team.

RB I agree with but we came into this season playing one up front and with two CFs on the books, one of whom was signed by Wilder for somewhere between £8m and £10m.

It was the lockdown season. We lost 2-0 at Leicester but it could have been 4 or 5. Debutant Luke Thomas (yes, him) was POTM down the left. Wilder blamed the players but in truth Brendan Rogers had been the first to highlight the weakness of our system and its reliance on Oli Norwood in the first meeting at the Lane in August.

We also lost 5-0 there in the first game after Wilder walked in 2021. That was Ndiaye’s debut.

Ah, 'linked with'!

Alan Biggs?
Nixon?
El Accountino?

Talk about putting 2 and 2 together, to make a stick to beat Wilder with.

Sorry, but you'll have to do better than that.

It’s the fantasy stuff I don’t understand. If you don’t like or can’t accept him fair enough, but the constant flights of fancy are frankly bizarre.

one ings cannon know its not great but campbell has been ambling through games as though he couldnt give a toss thats not good enough for a sheffield united player
You actually think Cannon gives a toss
If you think Ings and Cannon are the answer you must be as delusional as our unclean friends from S6
I know Campbell hasnt been great the other two have have been abysmal
You really need to give your head a wobble

If people are going to just make things up like that they can create any image of any human they want. You can't have a reasoned debate at that point. I think what really hurts is that they've had to recalibrate last season's performance and their overly negative reaction to it (some were toxic all season) and they've realised they were absolutely miles off. Rather than listen to their rationale brain they've decided to explore the wacky conspiracy angle.

He’s equally on a hiding to nothing and can’t do anything wrong at the same time.

None of this shit is his fault, but he’s had nowhere near the effect that the owners and a lot of fans thought he’d have on his return. It just proves that it’s very difficult to polish a turd, even an expensively assembled turf.

I think even he is shocked at how little impact he's had. Goes to show the game is evolving at such a rate, from season to season, if your coaching isn't evolving, then blink and you're old school.

The paper on the wall/diamond in the rough polishing looks to have been replaced by athletic monster, well drilled, make no mistakes. We're neither athletic or well drilled and are making tonnes of mistakes....

Worrying times.

Great post!

Very worrying times but he's just a symptom of a dreadfully run business
