It's on BBC sport too.

Shame if it's happened, as despite everything I felt he would make a good job of next season.

Perhaps it's a clash of egos. There must be a lot going on behind the scenes, and emotions must be running high.

Plus my signed framed shirt by him has just dropped in value 😟😟😟

Sad sad day. An unbelievable 5 years and an incredible run of success. Shocked at the timing tbh as you may as well have kept him until the end of the season at least. Players need to take a long hard look at themselves. Well done Chris, a job well done and you can leave with your head held high and through the front door.

Canny move. Pay off and straight into Celtic job? Gutted.

I will back the club of one man, however if there's not somebody lined up already then it's a ridiculous decision. And by somebody I genuinely only see Howe being good enough and experienced enough. Fuck the Cowleys, absolute waste of time

Call me crazy but can't help wonder if this has been done now to avoid protests.

No matches and Covid regs still in place so less chance.

By the time we can all gather the anger may have diluted.

I might also be talking bollocks.

The thing that really pisses me off is the Prince doesn't give a fuck about us. He happens to have been here when we've got one of the best managers we've ever had and has now completely fucked it up. Thinking he's modern with his DOF bullshit. Then when it doesn't work he'll just sell us and not give it a second thought.

A bad decision and majority of fans won't agree with, myself included.

BUT

Sadly it was becoming inevitable, the results, the breakdown of relationships, the refusal to change / adapt, the poor recruitment, the digs at the board in the media etc.

Sure its a roll of the dice, but I don't think it's cataclysmic as some suggest. Will depend on the appointment, and my god these are big shoes to fill.

Wilder will go down in history as a certified legend, nothing will change that.

You have got wonder what sort of jobs Wilder will be offered now. Shocked at this in fairness. I just don't see a viable replacement at all, surely it cannot be Lampard.....

Absolute ****ing disaster.

Regardless of this awful season, Chris is the best man to bring us back.

Last time we got relegated from the premier league and made the same mistake cost us 12 years out of it.

Sounds like he's off to celtic. They're my new team then

Canny move. Pay off and straight into Celtic job? Gutted.

Resigned and given up more than two years of big money at championship level. That's the integrity of the man. My view is they've been trying to force him out in preseason to save the cash from his pay off, and CW has just resigned and saved them the bother. That's the integrity of the bloke. You wouldn't catch me doing that; I'd be taking some of the riches I made with me. He's got out of what is a pretty toxic working environment from the top down. The replacement is by definition a yes man or he wouldn't be the next man. See the pigs and the manager that have turned them down. That's us now.

Completely bonkers decision. He has the backing of 85% of fans- that alone shows this is a very unique situation.

The 15% that have gained ground swell to get rid are total and utter idiots- who sadly more than likely have put us on a train ride straight back to mediocrity-thanks a bunch.

THanks Chris for 4 great years the likes of we will probably never ever see again.

Shocking decision. People want yes men now in all walks of life, if you have an opinion it's not warranted.

You can see that with Piers Morgan, a man that I don't really care for, but he has an opinion and was sacked.

Wilder has possibly been out of order with a few things he's said in the press recently but he's the right man

^^^^^^^^^^ spot on.

Caps off a dreadful 10 months for the club.

Gutted.

What's worrying is that if he has walked, it's obvious that any long term plan has gone out of the window.

So any new manager coming in is unlikely to have money to spend next season, have their best players sold and training facilities not adequate enough.

Why else would he walk?
