You are 100% correct. Under Wilder you were riding a Crest of a wave. That ship has now sailed. You will look back on the Wilder years fondly and will ultimately regret the day he left. Wait and see.
Oh!! Won one so you’re back again!

Instead of all speculation of, I've heard from good sources who I trust..and all that, why not wait for the truth to eventually hit the fan and then we'll all no won't we. This speculation bullshit is just causing more harm than good. Just saying so don't chew my head off lads ok...⚔UTB⚔ and FTO

Have people moved on yet ,big cup game at the weekend time to get back behind the team and staff .I've seen that many come and go over 50 years , but one thing is constant and that brothers and sisters is the mighty blades

As I remember it was reported that there was an option to terminate it this summer so watch this space!
I can't see the Prince sacking him after bringing him back, tolerating the piss poor performances after he returned and inviting him out to spend a week with him to discuss plans for next season.

im more than happy to keep wilder give him a chance in the championship. & i like how motivated wilder is when you hear him in interviews. the only problem at the moment is that he might want to bring back success too much because he is extremely fired up

Be interesting for people to re read this. Some people changed their whole opinion on Wilder based on one Talksport interview.

Agree, but after the chest beating subsides, I can’t get past hard facts which are we didn’t improve H2 when he came in, in fact felt like we took more beatings?

He also brought in Grbic and Holgate (BBD for balance)

His record since 20/21 is
us - walked before relegation confirmed
Boro in relegation zone - sacked
Watford - didn’t improve, contract not renewed
Us - didn’t improve, still here

Nothing against him, just think we need a cultural reset top to bottom

New owners, new manager bringing in new players

When wilder hits a sweet spot he creates teams with so much commitment, energy and confidence that you get 11 players playing at or close to their maximum potential.

But I do think it’s feast or famine with Wilder. On balance, I think I’d be happy to move on now, build something new with a professional long-term mindset, and just cherish the memories.

But if he’s here next year I’m 100% behind him and it wouldn’t be a surprise if we massively outperformed expectations.

Btw random question but does anyone know what school he went to? Was it silverdale? Heard him talk about his schooldays but never heard him name it.

Yep that’s fair. But I do think his results at Boro were actually an anomaly. He built Carrick’s squad for him and the underlying numbers were similar with both managers.

The Watford things was weird as hell though, right enough.

Dinnington Methodist I think ?

we will never know who was responsible for grbic, because it doesnt feel like wilder has huge knowledge of athletico madrid no2. that i feel was above him. you want a goalkeeper ive bought you 1 that scouts recommended

i disagree i think we did improve, as much as i love hecky we were lucky & id say we overperformed to get the points we did. in hindsight very lucky v Wolves. brighton switched off we were so bad they got complacent. where under wilder we were at least we were competive. we looked an attacking threat at least

Have to agree. It's been said above too that if he's here next season then fine. I'll give him 100% of my backing for the season and if he can just find that combo of passion and team spirit in the 11 players we end up with next season we can easily be one of the teams to beat next season.

Given the chance I would like a new manager (and a new owner) just a full refresh. Let the last few years of Wilder and Hecky go, even despite last season I look on them fondly, great to see United flirting with the Prem.

If he’s going it needs to be this week, if not we have no choice but to stick with him and back him. Even if all he has left is badge thumping and “this football club” interviews.

Don’t be surprised with anything with the Prince, how he got to the point of employing him second time around is mental.

We did take more beatings under Wilder but that's because he tried to play front foot football trying to win games.
Seems strange but all those around me (and some are very level headed) agreed that performances were a lot better under Wilder.
Under Wilder we regularly ventured into the opposition half, had a few attacks and looked dangerous but were always vulnerable to the counter attack.

Under Hecky we were more pragmatic, we were same when gaining promotion from the Championship under Hecky.
It reminded me of the Clough era. Doesnt matter who the opposition was, 1st halves were alway cagey affairs.
Then we'd up the tempo 2nd half, go 1-0 up, then we became very defensive again trying to hold on.

In the PL under Hecky, it was as though he knew we didnt stand much chance, so he packed the defence and settled for a respectable defeat.
Under Hecky seriously think we wouldn't have broken 10 points because the starting position was "let's keep the score down".
However under Hecky Im very confident we wouldn't have broken 100 goals against.

Regards Wilder I'd probably keep him, he's always shown he's seen it all, done it and worn the t-shirt.
He also knows the club inside out and knows all the players, as long as we're top half and challenging for the play-offs then he stays.
Any new owners have nothing to lose, if CW doesn't instantly perform then he can be replaced, with the blessings from the fanbase.
If CW is instantly replaced with a big name manager, it could be another Birmingham situation.
Pleased Rooney has just joined Plymouth Argyle because any new US based owners would love to have made Rooney the manager of SUFC.

The only reason for keeping him on is an imminent takeover.
I don't believe this will happen.
That being said. The only reason for bringing him back was based on the insanity of the fans and the owner.
Batshit crazy decision giving worst results in top level history.
D.REAM on on him ever being able to build anything long term.
Has turned results around eg Oxford SUFC but building?? Never
Judgement on young players is truly appalling generally.
Transfer policy appears to be buy/sign everyone and hope someone can play.

Agree not many people have the strength of character to admit mistakes and rise above the emotion of previous fallouts.
Think it's impressive and tells you alot about both Wilder and the Prince that they can kiss and make up after a terrible fall out.
Think more people in the world should be like that and not bare grudges for ever, cutting off their nose to spite their faces.
