No, it didn't contribute, it just turned out he was a shit manager.

Was an absolute car crash of a summer and first 3rd of the season with wilder having to repair the absolute shit show we had. The only real argument is will he ever cut it in the prem and with parachutes ending what does that realistically mean for us. If we get mid table next year there would be an argument for looking elsewhere.

I really don’t get anyone who thinks he deserves another season, let alone to the end of this one.

1. His impact this season has been minimal and he’s lost a lot of games.

2. One of the main reasons we started this season in the champ was massively down to his mini mental breakdown towards the end of last season, which filtered through to the players. That season should have ended in promotion.

3. We have very little budget for next season, largely down to blowing promotion last season (see above) AND Wilder’s awful big money signings that have nearly bankrupted the club, Brewster and Cannon to name but a few.

Should be sacked.

There were literally protests when Danny Wilson was appointed, it might have looked like he was on a hiding to nothing, but then he won some games and everyone got behind him.

Our last six form is as bad as Portsmouth's, only the pigs have a worse run of form. Plain and simple he has to go before the end of the season, let a new manager and his team assess what is needed and get some new blood into the club. Posters are fully entitled to a change but we can't just have 50% of the conversation and spin the wheel. Of course, first and foremost, I want a winning manager who can take us on a journey in the right direction but I want a connection too and no, that doesn't mean I'm only prepared to accept and ex player someone from Sheffield. When Slav was the manager, I hadn't a clue what he was trying to do and he was quite rightly sacked.

I tend to agree that the next guy will be on a hiding to nothing but even if we're fishing in a pond full of recently sacked EFL types, we need to get someone with the right credentials. Not a Rowett type journeyman, but certainly not another Selles wildcard or Ramos who had a year at Forest five years ago and five months since then as assistant at bleeding' Plovdiv.

Without buying a manager out of a contract that literally leaves us with zero to choose from as the chance of getting a foreign manager in here to work that isn’t already part of the system will struggle having to do everything expected on a small budget so we may as well stay put.

Selles had done a very good job at Reading given the situation they were in for a reasonably long spell, developing many young players and working well with their academy. He then took the Hull job and kept them up in a relegation battle.

Yeah that was a tough run to watch. I think at the minute for me it just seems grass is greener and easy to beat wilder. I think if he’d been here for the full season we’d be in the playoffs but there’d still be the wilder out question. I think we’d also have dunne that would have put us in a far more solid position at the back.

Last season, which people seem to forget, was somewhat hampered by a few big injuries (when I say a few I mainly mean Souttar and on his form last season arblaster).

I do think the last few weeks have started to make more fans consider that we need to move on from Wilder. Unfortunately I think he’s convinced some fans (and the board sadly) that he’s the only person who can manage us & will probably be here in August - if he wasn’t I think there’d be more of a structure being put in place above a new manager / head coach.

I’ve just not seen anything in Wilder Mk3 to convince me he’s going to magically change things next season. The same problems & warning signs are there as the last two times it ended with Wilder - no clear style of play, poor tactical flexibility (particularly in game), subs making no impact, horrendous fitness, poor recruitment & an arrogance and refusal to admit when he gets it wrong. He can take sly digs at Selles, the board & the ‘AI lads’ he magically brought up again earlier all he wants - but this rot has set in over the past 2-3 years, and Wilder has been the manager and running the club his way for the majority of that.

His man management style & his recruitment are stuck in the past - the game has moved on in the last 7 years & sadly I don’t think Wilder has. We can’t build a squad of ‘good lads’ and expect to compete at the top of the Championship anymore. No other top 10 side would hire this version of Wilder now - that should tell us everything we need to know.

Reading weren’t relegated under him. What he achieved there as the club was collapsing around him and players weren’t being paid was success by any sensible metric. His only relegation was at Southampton where he performed pretty well identically to Wilder’s record here when he took over from Hecky.

Fair enough, my memory must be going. I don't dislike Selles, just don't think he has done anything to make him suitable to manage us. He stabilised chaos, perhaps at Reading and Hull, so maybe he is a decent firefighter, but nothing suggests he could take us forward in my mind. I didn't want Wilder sacked, but I expected better than Selles to follow him if the board decided to move forward with that.
