Given Slav's very vocal complaints about the last transfer window and he was recently making comments about wanting to strengthen key positions in January after recent matches, I fully expect his departure was 100% over January and not recent results or performances.
He reinstated Basham and we've looked better at the back. We've also drawn one and won one keeping back to back clean sheets, something we've not done all season. He also stopped putting square pegs in round holes and finally picked a formation for who he's got, rather than a formation for who he hasn't got. Coincidentally this resulted in a win and a draw and said clean sheets.
If he was to be sacked over results, why after those results? If the board were going to back a new manager in January then they'd have looked for someone else prior to sacking him and allowed applicants. Sacking him and replacing him with Hecky only tells us that this was entirely to do with lack of funds in January. We'll sign no one. That's nailed on, and obedient lapdog Hecky will tell us that it's all okay.
I don't begrudge Slav. He shouldn't have picked a formation for players he didn't have, but he tried our old formation at the start of the season and it didn't work then, so he tried to change things. Our squad is devoid of hunger, confidence and sadly ability. He inherited a turgid turd of a squad, the board didn't back him in the transfer window and I fail to see how Hecky will change things too.
People bring up Hecky winning three matches last season. Yes he did. After relegation was confirmed and the players were no longer under pressure with nothing to play for. Prior to that we lost all four games including a 5-0 hammering, our biggest loss of the season.
