Wilder Closure

I personally find it a bit odd that some are unable to move on. Most of us were incredibly disappointed the way it ended but we now have a manager proven at this level for playing exciting attacking football and getting teams promoted.

One swallow doesn't make a summer but Saturday showed with some time and a few of his own acquisitions, improvements can be made. Despite Watford and Fulham fans saying you'd need to be patient, some of our fans have very little of that.

We've still got fans and local media digging at the owner and pining for the ex-manager. As well as finding it a bit pathetic frankly, it doesn't add up when we've actually now got a manager with a better track record than Wilder at this level.

I'm sure some of it is down to the typical Sheffuld tood - dont trust dem forrinuz.

Ye posh buggers, can afford a fish eh! I could al'us only get 3d'th o' chips.😞
It's chip paper, any way.😌

I felt like we'd closed the book on what we'd deemed the Wilder era while he was still here.

What we remembered of him and the team and how we played and approached games had gone about 2 games into last season where it was a bloke who looked like Chris Wilder but didn't do things the way he had done previously.

Saturday's game showed what we can do with a few hungry and enthusiastic players and hopefully the likes of Ndiaye and MGW and also Fleck getting back on the scoresheet can re-vitalise the team and re-convince them that they CAN perform. The fact that we won so emphatically can boost confidence no end, far more than a scrappy 1-0 where we might have been crap and papers over the cracks. I checked my phone and couldn't believe we'd scored 3, never mind 6!

I think I'll be disappointed for a long time about what happened. My old man has his united stories of poor luck or horrendous decision making that would have led to a different outcome for united.
Mine are
Tevez saga- I think if we survived that season we could have had a run like stoke did.
Ched saga- our league one years would have been alot shorter.
Covid - without it we could have made Europe but at the very least we would have had a few years in the premier league
As ever we move on to the next drama, dreaming of bigger things like the fools only football fans can be.
How do you know Wilder didn't lose loved ones? Strange thing to say.
We all know what I meant in reply to a previous post. You might not like it and that’s up to you, but I would think the context was clear enough. Apologies if not.

We had exactly this discussion in the pub after the game. The formation, the style, scoreline, everything felt different.

I've been banging the drum for a while that we need to move to Slavs style and formation, regardless of personnel.

We suddenly look like the attacking side we were hoping we'd see. Let's hope Slav can build on it and treat us to more entertaining games.
