For me, yesterday’s game was closure on Chris Wilder’s tenure. Since he left, every game has caused me to question what the match would have been like with Chris in charge. Yesterday, however, was different. Not just the win, but the nature of it and the new additions who excited us all do much. Onwards and upwards, In Slav I trust.

Good post, totally agree - I’ve been urging closure for some time now, but you know our lot, they love a good moan. It does seem the right time to let go of the rope, particularly as yesterday’s performance indicates a really good side in the making.

Yes, closure I agree. But lets not forget Wilderball of the early days ...... the annihilation of L1 after 5 previous years of mainly utter shite. The way we carried on the momentum in the Champ .... the 2- 4 Bouncing Day Massacre. Ok that season tailed off, but we learnt, tweaked and came roaring back bigger and better. Beating Leeds scum to automatic promotion. Then the first season in PL. We all going on a European Tour! It was wonderful until covid. Even after that we had some fantastic victories .... Blades 3-0 Chelsea!..... Come on thats the stuff you find in your pants after a hot dream.

Ok, I know it turned to dog shit. I know CW walked out through the back door. I know we were shite, utter shite, last season. I'm not looking back through rose coloured glasses, and I'm happy with the direction and management of the club (on the playing side). But for all those quick to cast aside Wilderball and hail the new way of playing, for a bit of balance, add the first 4 seasons into the mix - not just last season.

Tufty has gone, fair enough. I have and will get behind Slav 100%. Yesterday gave me some hope that we are at last started to turn it around and adapt to how he wants to play - and boy was that second half exciting! But CW will always have a special little place in my heart. If for nothing else, that 2-4 against the pigs.

Not for me. Covid robbed fans and Wilder a chance to go through the bad times together. I don't think it'll ever be a thing that is truly moved on from tbh.

All of what I posted doesn't mean we have to move on and can fully enjoy whatever comes in the months and years ahead but one excellent game?!

I closed that chapter a while ago but then scanning YouTube earlier Wilders best moments came on from sheff utd way and I chuckled and missed him while watching as soon as it finished I went back into backing slav mode.

Did we not go through COVID together? Some people lost loved ones. CW lost nothing bar his ego. I loved the good times and I will always thank CW for them. However he has left us in a mess and for me I can’t bring myself to say thanks for McBurnie, Brewster, Burke, Robinson, Veripps etc… We move on. So let’s leave CW where he left us… rear view mirror

It's embryonic hope for me. It's a positive start and what a cracking performance, but we need to continue to see what the action plan is and the tactics are.

I think you can both hope for the future, cherish the Wilderball memories and lament the nature in which it ended, simultaneously. UTB.

I think I'll be disappointed for a long time about what happened. My old man has his united stories of poor luck or horrendous decision making that would have led to a different outcome for united.
Mine are
Tevez saga- I think if we survived that season we could have had a run like stoke did.
Ched saga- our league one years would have been alot shorter.
Covid - without it we could have made Europe but at the very least we would have had a few years in the premier league
As ever we move on to the next drama, dreaming of bigger things like the fools only football fans can be.

As a football club we simply have to move on from the CW era, as much as we enjoyed the pleasure of witnessing it.

Yes, it was a very sad ending and one that I believe most didn't want.

From a personal perspective, I wanted him to build Blades/Wilder dynasty mk2 and to prove he really was something special - sadly we'll never know that now.

Days at Milton Keynes and nights like at West Brom will live long in the memory (no need to really mention bouncing day, it's already folklore), but we must move on and hopefully now embrace the sort of football dished up on Saturday. We're in for some juicy games if the Peterborough games was anything to go by.

You make a valid point, but I would question why we need to compare ourselves against anything that shower managed to do last season?

I don't think the two results stack up against each other to be honest.

Theirs was under a manager with a so so record, with a team which had spent 8 seasons in the Championship largely battling relegation, and who were firmly in the mire very late on in the season.

Ours was under a manager who is known to be a slow starter but is verging on a promotion specialist at this level, with a team that is finding its feet again, with the season barley started.

I agree we shouldn't get carried away, but I think we can expect more of the same, where as their Cardiff result was little more than a flash in the pan.

Come across lots of Forest fans online who really don't want Wilder as their manager. They seem to think he's negative and plays hoof ball. Amazing how in people's minds those 4 incredible seasons have been undone by one disastrous season played out in bizarre circumstances. West Brom fans had similar views of him too. It's totally unfair but to be honest I hope he doesn't rock up in The Championship while ever we are in it.
