Wilder Bottled It

I don't know what you just watched, but Leeds are excellent.
They've had a really tough set of fixtures and are in the top two.

They're going up and I think it could be very comfortable for them as the competition isn't strong this season.
We're in with a shot at 2nd for the same reason.

As disappointed as I am with the manner of the defeat, they probably would have beaten us regardless.
Nobody that watches united disagrees with that, but its the manner of this defeat..we lost in the pre match interview.

It’s cowardly

What on earth justification can you give to change a shape that has left you 10 unbeaten with 6 consecutive clean sheets?
Cowardly as in Wilder was afraid of Leeds? He just thought it gave us the best chance of getting a result.

The justification is he thought it would work. Imagine thinking it'd work, but then bottling it because it looks strange to change a winning team.

Because for the first 15 we were the better team, made changes on the hour and we're the better team again for 5mins before they scored.

I didn't see a system that wasn't working, I saw too many players play poorly.
Think you may have a point there.
How many stray passes did we make today.

Hindsight’s a wonderful thing, you could flip that and say their front 5 would have had a field day against our usual back 4 and over ran them.

My worry pre game was Hamer tracking Bogle. I agree we should have offered more going forward but I kind of understood the team selection.

The issue for me was we got through the first half and it was noticeable they were getting on top, that was the time to change.
He’s created a problem he didn’t need though.

His Plan A worked.

Now he goes to Boro and he’s not going to know whether to stick or twist.

This is what happens at times when you go on a run. The manager starts to get too clever and believes everything he touched turns to gold.

It was a frustrating watch but if they hadn’t scored from a poorly defended corner I think we might have got a point. If we had been more attacking it may have been different, or alternatively we may have been smashed having been too open.

The players and Wilder have had a dreadful week, not surprised they weren’t totally on it. Overall still a brilliant start to the season in comparison to what I was expecting.

We cut out the cross & Peck tracks his man the game finishes 0-0 and we laud a decent point on the road.

He tried something new to give us the best chance of defending against their attack (which is statistically the best in the league for chances created).

We should have stuck to our usual set up but even as pissed off as we are now you can kind of see what wilder was trying to achieve.

Hamer & Ohare on the break. Anel & RND have the ability to join attacks. Burrows gets forward well. I’m not sure Moore suited the system, we needed someone to stretch the game. Squad depth is a massive issue

If just didn’t work at all. We move on and revert back to what we know

God OHare needs resting like a school boy playing men's ball.. arblaster not at it ... you don't start a player who is buzzing man of match 2 goals on bench till 75 mins wtf.. we are sheffiekd united, we play to our strength..... premier league first season under chris we fear no one .. and play attacking centre half's
Now we play team in championship missing two best players ..... ffs go for it ....
Bad day at office

Hopefully he is saving performance for a fuck you Gibson on Wednesday

I suspect that preparation for this game has been severely disrupted in the last week, hence play for a draw.

I think setting up without either Rak Sakyi or Brooks was cowardly, yes.
Would you prefer him to have played Rak Sakyi because it looks brave, despite actually thinking it would make us more likely to lose?

Well we agree to disagree, but it was completely one sided.
There was only one team that deserved to win, but we saw some genuinely one-sided games last season. I saw both Arsenal games - they could have been 10-0 by half-time. This wasn’t completely one-sided in my view, although definitely a result that reflected who was the better side.

Give me your honest opinion on that game... seriously.

I thought we were terrible and set up for a point and were scared and clueless..

So what did you see..?
I'm not denying the poor performance, and i agree wilder set us up for a point. Just think some fans were getting excited about the prospect of being the next invincibles. Was never going to happen. We've lost tonight yes, but there's a lot of games to go. Fully expect us to take 6 points from the next 2 games

Nope agree, but Leeds keeper clean sheets so he's in goal for a combined team
Oh I dont care about that team of the week stuff, but coops couldn't save the first goal, and the second was all on peck, who's a kid learning the game.

That first, nobody saves it it's a great goal, the second, a defender should be dealing with it, they went to sleep and left peck to try and sort it..

Have to agree.
The manner of that loss is on Wilder. It's fine to lose away to Leeds, I think they're going up as Champions.

However, we were riding in as the only unbeaten team in the league and top performing side. No injury concerns...

So why have we gone there, changed the system, dropped our best attacking threat in JRS and made absolutely no attempt to win the game?

At 60 mins, at 0-0, rather than deciding to go after them we make a series of negative / neutral changes and the game is subsequently lost.

Really disappointed with Wilder.
We've gone out the back door tonight. Something his Blades teams very rarely do.

This Moore & O'Hare experiment does have to end now. It doesn't work.
O'Hare can't play that role.

At 60 mins, at 0-0, rather than deciding to go after them (RB, JRS and Brooks all on the bench), we make a series of negative / neutral (at best) substitutions and the game is subsequently lost.

Really disappointed with Wilder.

O'Hare can't play that role.

I hope Wilder learns from that.
We're good enough to go toe-to-toe with anyone in this league. Let's not do that again.

I was sat waiting for an all out attack last 10 mins and it never came. Campbell was a strange sub so early on, why not get Brookes and JRS on and run at their defence. We know Bogle is suspect at the back and we never even tested him.
Said exactly the same..

That was rubbish, Leeds are rubbish btw they wont go up auto in million years, but for fuck sake what was that from us? We looked scared shitless! Cant win a tackle, cant track a runner.............................really?
Nonsense. They were much better than we were.
