So every time a club has a managerial vacancy, Wilder should say ‘thanks but no thanks’ whether he is offered the job or not? Presumably all other managers currently in work should add their rejections of offers they haven’t had?

ive always said wilder is going nowhere. somethings are better than money. managing the club he supports in the premier league is priceless. hes already said Sheffield United in premier league is major ambition of mine. let say in 30yrs & he left what would be his biggest regret in football this right now

Nick, like yourself I'm entitled to my view, agree or disagree, it doesn't matter, it's just your opinion versus mine. Perhaps you can identify anything I've written that suggests that my allegiances are not supportive of the Blades? But I return to the view that we're all entitled to air those views, and I'm firmly of the opinion that it's a good thing that we're entitled to disagree with other posters. I've been on this forum for a few years, in that time I've met a few regular posters, I've become friends with one or two, I've met the two people who created this forum, been welcomed by them, and have enjoyed my time, so far, as a member of this forum. So doubt away Nick, it won't make tuppence worth of difference in the grand scheme of things.

My opinions are what they are, share them or not, I'll continue to write, in support of the club I hold in the highest esteem - Sheffield United. The fact that you doubt who I support, well I guess that's something you'll need to convince yourself about, assuming you have the capacity to do so. Just to chuck this out (hoping it is not tempting fate) was talking in the pub yesterday about where Wilder stands in the beauty parade of managers. I believe none of the top 6 placed teams last year would go for him, but the nest level (Everton, Leicester - know they have just appointed Rodgers, West Ham, Newcastle) maybe would go for him. Hopefully next year will post similar with the linked teams as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus.

Nick, let's clear up your assertions; firstly, I'm a long way from being, what was it you called me, a Johnny come lately? I converted (hate the religious terminology) about 1968, since then a Blade from top to bottom. by my reckoning that's approx 50 years, and that's a lot older than some Blades have been alive. Can I ask Nick, how long have you been following the Blades?

Secondly, given the recent influx of posters, many who are pigs disguised as Blades, forgive me, but I have no shame in being cautious about what you might refer to as their legitimacy as a Blade. I'm happy to say 'sorry' if proved wrong, but far too many begin their posts with pleas to accept their authenticity, as if that's all it takes. It's far more than a simple coincidence that having achieved promotion we find ourselves being infiltrated by some of the blue and white La Liga followers. They arrive here wishing to disrupt and cause problems, and the fact that this has happened a lot recently means I feel it's not inappropriate to question a newcomer who claims to be a Blade. You clearly adopt a policy of embracing anyone who claims to be a Blade. Each to their own, but recent evidence has stiffened my resolve in believing that the link between our promotion and the influx of new Blades is far more than a coincidence.

I should add, it was a given that promotion would attract new posters, but those who've posted often bear a striking resemblance in their first posts to previous pig posters. Don't know about you Nick, but there's far more than coincidence attached to many of these posts to convince me of the spontaneous nature of many of these 'new Blades'. So, returning to your claim that you've touched a nerve, the answer is, not really. I just felt it might help you to know a little about myself, rather than the half-baked assumptions contained in your first post (remember, you said you'd never been convinced I was a Blade?).

Anyway, upwards and onwards, new season and all that, UTMB and FTP. We're all blades, aren't we?
