Wilder’s team for his first game back?

I could see him doing something weird, like bringing back the 4-4-2 he got attached to at the end of the season.

If he does return, who will he pick for the Charlton Game:-

4-2-3-1
Cooper
Seriki Tanganga Mee Burrows
Matos Peck
Ogbene O Hare Hamer
Campbell

Deffo gunna be 4-2-3-1 and I really rate that lineup.

Our squad right now is a mix of last seasons first and second half. Worse than the start of least season in terms of XI but just as good depth as there was in the second half. If Mee & Ogbene prove they’re at a similar level to what they’ve shown in their careers and one of the midfielders in Matos/Soumare steps up we could potentially be as strong as we were with Souttar, Souza & Arblaster in the side.

We are still woefully short of goals, it is catastrophic that we signed no strikers
Doesn't matter how many strikers we have our wide players can't or won't cross. Our build up play has been so slow opponents can drop deeper, cover any space denying space for strikers to run into or receive passes.

I think he will probably go 4-2-3-1 like he did most of last season. Personally I don’t think our wingers are good enough, we have a lot of good CB’s and our full backs are better suited as wing backs. So it would be 3-5-2 for me.

Four four two is only really effective playing over a high press and needs a target man to hold the ball up

I think he will go as close to his 4-2-3-1 team of last season as he can with the personel available and given that Charlton will play a low block and will press us all over the pitch

Scenes when Ukaki, Polendakov and Zatterstrom all start
He'll miss Jeff 😒

Think wilder will love working with some of our new signings and wouldn't surprise me if we see something special from likes of Ings and Ogbene. Maybe even Barry.

Essentially the system and players who got 92 points last season but with 4 replacements.
Tanganga, Ogbene and Mee are arguably upgrades on Anel, Robinson and Rak-Sakyi
Souza the biggest loss but he was missing for large parts of last season anyway.
Matos probably the best option in that position or possibly Soumare / Davies.

He should be able to get us up and running again even if it’s not thrilling to watch.
I for one, will happily take that at the moment.
Imho we'll miss a big CF
Oh, we sold one on the cheap.
Why - with no replacement until January - assuming we can actually afford one

Seriki or Ogbene for Godfrey, may as well have fast legs as RWB if we have 3 CBs. Think playing with two up front or two 10s is the next think if we have wingbacks.

Either O'Hare and Hamer as 10s with Campbell as the striker.

Or go back to the old Duffy, mcgoldrick, sharp days so need Hamer as the Duffy, O'Hare or Campbell as the link between striker and the 10 and Ings as the poacher.
Hamer is literally perfect for the Duffy role, then Campbell for Mcgoldrick and Ings for Sharp, but I really don't want to see 352 to come back though as it didn't work properly after JOC was injured. We'd need to combine 4231 with that system to make it work.

Cooper
Seriki / Tanganga / Mee (C) / Burrows
Matos / Soumare
Ogbene / Hamer / Campbell
Ings

I'd have Matos and Soumare to help Burrows with defensive duties as Campbell probably won't. Ogbene knows the wingback role so him and Seriki will work well and cover each other as well as both being ridiculously quick.

Unfortunately I just can't see Wilder leaving Godfrey, Peck and Cannon out which I feel will unbalance the team.

Who do we think is going to be the captain, is there a general consensus?

I dont think Hamer should be, you need a player like that to concentrate on being creative, but im not sure who I would pick, Mee if he plays but if not then I've no idea.

Oh I hated the 4-4-2, I just wouldn't be surprised if he did it again.

I think he went down that road when teams started pressing us high up the pitch and it worked when Kieffer was fit but unless maybe Ings plays I can just see it coughing up possession constantly

Cooper
Godfrey
Tanganga
Mcguinness/Mee
Burrows
Peck
Matos/Soumare
Ogbene
O'Hare
Hamer
Campbell

Barring injuries this week I think the majority are nailed on to start other than the CB and CM position.

The nightmare is that Wilder will want to include Cannon, like he did last season. Let's pray Ings can stay fit.

Cooper
Seriki Tanganga Mee Burrows
Peck Matos
Ogbene O'Hare Hamer
Campbell

Of the new signings, I think the following will suit Wilder OK to well:

Ogbene
Tanganga
Mee
McGuinness
Godfrey
Matos
Ings

So that's most, don't know about the rest. He's got enough to work with. He'll get us into the top 6, certainly top 10

Haven't got the targetman/physical presence that Wilder likes to have in 2 up top. I think the definite starters are

Cooper
Tanganga
Burrows
Peck
Hamer
Campbell

But it could be 4231 or 5221

Think it will be

Cooper
Tanganga - McGuinnes - Mee
Seriki- Peck - Soumare - Matsos - Burrows
Hamer
Campbell

As much as I don't want to, to get the best out of Burrows and Seriki/Godfrey, I think we have no choice but to resort to a back 5

I'd be surprised if he deviated too far from this, essentially like for like with Ogbene, Matos and the new CBs replacing Anel, JLT, JRS/BBD and Souza

If 352

Cooper
Mee Tanganga McGuiness
Seriki Matsos Chong Hamer Burrows
Campbell O’Hare

If 4231

Cooper
Seriki Mee Tanganga Burrows
Peck Chong
O’Hare Matsos Hamer
Campbell
