I don't get this about Godfrey. He and Burrows have had no support from Brooks and Barry so they are often trying to deal with two players. The CB have to stay central because there has been no defensive midfield. It is not Godfrey that needs dropping it is Brooks and Barry. Both are ok as impact substitutes but they are not starters
Thought it was just me! Brooks is a waste of a shirt and was for the majority of last season. When I watched the Bristol City game I thought that Burrows and Barry might make a good partnership. Barry looked a threat for the first 20. Seems to have fallen away from then on.

Brooks and Barry HAVE to come out of the team. My team would be:

Coops
Seriki tanga McG Burrows
Soumare Peck
Ogbene. OHare. Hamer
Campbell
Maybe Mee in there to help Burrows, but if he's not fit enough, thats my team as well.
Possibly harsh on Matos, but Wilder isn't dropping Peck for this one in a million years.

My three decisions for Saturday.

1) do I chance a piss at HT.
2) can I be arsed to celebrate again when United score their fifth.
3) do i go with a romantic evening with the Mrs and high chance of Saturday night 'action', or do I get royally pissed celebrating the fact United 'are back' ?

In all probability, both me and the missus are hoping for me to get pissed.

I agree, Pecks not getting dropped.

It is harsh as Matos has his qualities. I just think Soumare is better on the ball and believing we'll have most of the ball, makes sense more sense to me. I reckon Wilder will start Matos though.

I agree, Burrows will need help because from what I've seen, Charlton have some decent option on their right.

- Seriki: An actual right back who gets unfairly accused of being weak defensively because he dares to get forward (Jaden Bogle mk2), and Godfrey is shite and a terrible signing for us (Mason Holgate mk2)

- Soumare: Bit of a toss-up between him and Matos as I think they both came out of their respective league games with us as the only players to actually try and look half-decent, without being spectacular… but I’ve gone for Soumare to get more height into our tiny team.

McGuinness - I don’t particularly rate McGuinness, but as Mee played for the u21’s a couple of days ago I think he’s unlikely ready to start yet.

Burrows and Godfrey are terrible full backs, particularly against wingers or forward players who are any good. Unless Wilder’s magic motivational formula can turn them decent we need to revert to wing backs with Seriki and Burrows and then Tanganga plus 2 at centre back.

Wilder will hopefully work out the best 2 to play with Tanganga but on the evidence of so far Bindon and McGuiness aren’t great and we don’t know what Godfrey or Mee are like in that position.

inside training vid showed Matos & Soumare paired together working on passing drills to the front four. Feels very defensive but I wouldn’t put it past him.

Did it now? Interesting.
Ive seen a few call out for that.
But I've said it a few times, Wilder isn't dropping Peck.

I agree completely. They are both attack minded wing backs, who fit best in a 5 at the back. Neither is that strong defensively, which is exacerbated, when the wide midfielders in front of them, either can't or won't, put a shift it.

Despite the football hipster world seeing 5-3-2, as archaic, it would be the best way to get something out of Seriki and Burrows.

Think most people would've ve picked 10 of that team, come on blades!

Burrows proved my point today, got done for the goal.
