Why is Leon Clarke unsubable?

That's not a fact. I repeat, many had him as motm on Tuesday and he was singled out for praise by Holloway and Wilder. But yes, he was dogshit.

Then you need glasses pal.

Sean.

How the fuck do you work that one out ?

If Sharp and Clarke are the front lads, how would you include or exclude either of them from the critique ??

Granted, the tactics of lumping it to players that are ill equipped to optimise the strategy is baffling. However, Leon’s performance, on the night, really can’t be justified or objectified by the shortcomings of defenders and midfielders.

UTB

You talked about turnovers. Don't the rules apply to midfield players who continually misplaced passes, put us under the cosh time after time? Is the comparison unfair, because Fleck and Basham were far worse. You don't like Clarke, can't give genuine praise when it's due and now don't want an actual comparison to other players miserable performances in case it negates your biased view in some way.

I haven't left Clarke out of the critique btw just made a comment not based on bias. I've also been positive about Billy, but then we have the pathetic "fuck him off" comment

Hard to explain that one. I’ve not paid good money to watch that, so I’ll let them who have paid their hard earned try to come to terms with what went off.

Yep, if Wilder can't see Leon is tossing it off and can't hit a barn door with a banjo i'm worried. Holloway is just a fuck wit.

Glad Bruce Wayne from the Internet has more insight than one the most respected managers in the game and another who has managed in the top flight.

We're in good hands.

Biased is the wrong word, opinion is the correct word. Face facts Leon has been dog shit for weeks.

Of course it's an opinion. It's a biased one though. Suggesting he was poor against QPR shows that.

Damn fucking right we are.

So what did he do against QPR? Oh yeah, he chased back 40 yards in the 93rd minute to snuff out a break away. What did he do in the previous 92 minutes please?

I'll leave you to it. The result and performance has got us all down but you're just being daft now.

No no no. That counts for nothing.

Well Brooks, Wilson and Holmes weren't on the bench but either of them could play off Sharp or Donaldson. Are they all injured or did they just not make the bench? If they're not injured then surely that's a poor bench to name from the manager.

These players have been available recently but still Clarke never gets taken off

Really? You didn't read Wilders comments then? Or read the forum?

Said it at the time we shouldn’t have given Clarke a new contract. Yes, he has done well for us this season, but we should be giving contracts to protect an asset, a 33 year old who has never really shown top Championship quality is not an asset worth protecting past his previous 2019 deal.

You can’t be sentimental and reward past performances, it’s future performances that now matter.

Wilder and Bruce seem to disagree.

Ask Wilder, maybe he sees things differently? I don't have an issue with criticism of Clarke, blaming him for every bad result is a joke.

When strikers ain’t scoring they will always come in for criticism and there will naturally be calls for one of the other strikers to be given a chance.

Had Clarke been rested or subbed in the last 10 matches, no doubt he wouldn’t be getting as much criticism. It’s a bit of a Wilder’s favourite situation and people will question that.

Maybe Wilder and Holloway have a little more knowledge and understand if what Clarke is adding, than a random bias guy on the internet?

From most fans I agree. That's not the case in this thread. Or earlier ones.

Donald sons cameo's show very little. Look st tonight. Would you start him instead of Clarke based on that? He's below Wilson in the pecking order. Brooks has played well with Leon, but he's not going to replace him in his role and neither is Holmes.

Yeah probably, a bit like the unseen work Hammond did.

Why does it? Leon tonight lost every header, was second to the ball every time and this is typical of his form over the past 6 weeks, how can you defend the indefensible?

The only thing I've defended is his performance against QPR which most posters disagree with you totally on. I've not defended his performance tonight simply pointed out there were worse players on the pitch. That is a fact. The strikers being given hardly any chances bear that out.

Have you been by the way?

Just a small point, why is Holloway’s opinion on football being held so highly all of a sudden?

Not trying to argue over Clarke’s QPR performance as I couldn’t make it Tuesday.

The fact that this led to our manager assessing that particular performance as outstanding, along with the seemingly undroppable status, which is at the core of the thread, has me increasingly concerned.

I had the best view of the lot via sky and he was apart from Leonard the worst player on the pitch. I may be biased then, fair enough (god knows why cos iv'e praised him enough) but since the new deal he's been apathetic compared to prior, he can't shoot anymore, he rarely wins headers and watch him close down the opposition. Prior new contract made them make mistakes, now sprints for a second or two then stops, watch his body language, arms come out, shakes his head, was he doing that 6 weeks ago? Something has changed, you tell me.

No I wouldn’t say I’m a big fan of any of our strikers to be honest. Our main 3 strikers are Sharp aged 32, Clarke 33 and Donaldson 34. Then we’ve got Wilson on loan and Ched has struggled big time with injury since getting out of prison.

We’re in desperate need of two younger permanent signings in my opinion.

I don't think Leon was that bad...no real service to the front lads..missed Duffy or someone to link the play..the midfield were poor, Evans and Leonard didn't do enough,...nobody dictating the play,no drive and we lost possession time after time.
Blackman did well.. Baldock was about our best outfield player...I felt it showed today how much we miss Coutts..that player that's always available for the ball and keeps everything ticking over.
Need to get back on track v Reading...hopefully Brooks will be fit,we could have really done with him today, even if it's just off the bench.

The best view isn't on a TV screen. It never has been. When Donaldson came on against QPR, Wilder was going mad with him for not covering back, He kept telling him what to do. You don't see that on a tv. Nor do you see other players reactions to failed passes etc.

You've decided it's money related. I'd say it's a lean spell, which all strikers suffer. Wilder sees him as an important part of his team. You want to "fuck him off". Surely you can see why your view isn't universally popular?
