Why is Leon Clarke unsubable?

Agreed service to the front lads was not great.

But when passes were completed to Leon, the turnover of possession was, bluntly, alarming.

UTB

As it was with Sharp. I don’t see you talking about that though.....

Who on the bench would you rather have on the pitch?! Donaldson has been atrocious the last few games he's featured

Well Brooks, Wilson and Holmes weren't on the bench but either of them could play off Sharp or Donaldson. Are they all injured or did they just not make the bench? If they're not injured then surely that's a poor bench to name from the manager.

These players have been available recently but still Clarke never gets taken off

Clarke before new contract unplayable, signs new contract back to journeyman donkey. Fuck him off.

Well, we’ll never find out if no one gets a chance in his place.

All I can say is that the other strikers must be utter wank in training!

The turnover rate was no worse for him than the majority, Sharp excluded And better than a few. Staring with Fleck and Basham.

Said it at the time we shouldn’t have given Clarke a new contract. Yes, he has done well for us this season, but we should be giving contracts to protect an asset, a 33 year old who has never really shown top Championship quality is not an asset worth protecting past his previous 2019 deal.

You can’t be sentimental and reward past performances, it’s future performances that now matter.

Probably.
In his defence, what service did he get tonight? It’s not like he’s missed chances to win the game for us.
The midfield was always miles away from him and he was dealing with long balls while having Dawson doing what he’s done all his career winning the header.

Poor tactics, poor midfield play...it’s one or both of those.

I’ll happily discuss Sharp.

On the night, his ability to play in a team mate was on a different planet to that of Clarke.

UTB

Like the time when he went through, could have passed it square for Fleck (I think) to score an easy goal but he shot straight at the keeper instead?

We don't really have a striker who can make sonething out of nothing. I thought they did ok trying to win headers against much bigger players. They got almost no service or support from midfield.

Agree. He’s been shite all near enough every game since the new year, other than the odd hard working performance. Time we give Donaldson a chance from the start instead of just the odd 10 minutes

Really?? 10 minutes from each of the last 2 games is enough

Sean.

How the fuck do you work that one out ?

If Sharp and Clarke are the front lads, how would you include or exclude either of them from the critique ??

Granted, the tactics of lumping it to players that are ill equipped to optimise the strategy is baffling. However, Leon’s performance, on the night, really can’t be justified or objectified by the shortcomings of defenders and midfielders.

Why should it? Billy runs his blood to water, Clarke was lazy and fucking dreadful all night and has been for weeks.

Last Saturday he was dreadful and lazy? Okay. He's had a bad spell compared to earlier in the season. As has Billy. Tonight the midfield surrendered for much of the game and too many players shownoated with high long crosses across the pitch which nine times out of ten ended up fifty fifty balls they were either that poor or obvious. The midfield is the reason we lost. They were dire.

I thought Sharp put a bigger shift in than most tonight btw. I'm not totally biased like you.

That’s fair enough, the world’s best strikers would have struggled tonight. But it’s not just tonight, 1 goal in 12 is worrying and also puzzling why he’s not even subbed let alone dropped.

I would not be looking to lay the blame on any of the forwards on that display. The midfield was nesh, uncommitted, inept and a fucking embarrassment.

He was outstanding Tuesday.
It’s not just goals that he does, but I agree he might need a rest

Biased is the wrong word, opinion is the correct word. Face facts Leon has been dog shit for weeks.

I'll agree with that. We seem to have gone direct all of a sudden. And by direct, I'm using that as a posh word for hoof.

Fuck me, Dronnie had been positively erect waiting for a chance to have a go at Leon.

People saying fuck him off.

Fuck me.

FUCK ME.
Waiting. Waiting ???

You clearly don’t follow my musings !

UTB

Ps for what it’s worth, and given that Wilder and Knill are clearly blindsided by Clarke, which explains his undroppable status, I’m as desperate as the next guy for Leon to get back to something like. Our season might just hinge on it.

That's not a fact. I repeat, many had him as motm on Tuesday and he was singled out for praise by Holloway and Wilder. But yes, he was dogshit.

I agree that strikers shouldn’t solely be judged on goals, but a poor goal scoring run like 1 in 12 can’t be ignored.
