Bradford for me. Most of my best mates are Bradford fans and in the 22 years I've known them they've beaten us once in the league (under Weir with Fabian Brandy leading the line, the most mitigating of circumstances imaginable) and on pens on the EFL Trophy. Even in their promotion season to the prem they didn't beat us so bragging rights have nearly always been mine.

That said, it's a fine old club and one of the best aways days going with the ale and curry scene up there. They dealt, and continue to deal, with the Bradford Fire disaster with a great deal of dignity, and their fans have stuck with them even down to their current position in the 4th tier. If we think we've been mismanaged from time to time, it pales in comparison with goings on at Valley Parade.

Always found Bratfud a bit of a dump

Having lived and worked in Stockholm for a few years, I used to to go and watch Hammarby quite a bit. Nowhere near as massive as their city rivals and formed in 1889, what’s not to like?!
Closer to home - Harrogate Town.

to be a glasgow rangers fan is bigotry. rangers fans are the lowest of the low.

You need to explain that, you do realise it’s possible to just follow the club and watch the sport.. if you think it’s a duty bound to engage in the negative side of any football club you need to give your head a wobble.. a complete condemnation of all rangers fans as bigots is disgusting..

As a young lad with a blade father but living nowhere near Sheffield, I spent my early years supporting the best side at the time, that played the best football, was on the tele the most and won most of the time.
Liverpool.
You know what it’s like, you spend your time as a kid playing in the park pretending to be someone, and I was Dalglish. And my Shoot annuals every Xmas always seemed to contain Keegan being he was Englands best striker. So I often followed him a bit as I also tried to model my game on him as I admired him being often much smaller than the rest of the players (as was I as a young kid and striker)

All changed when I was old enough to be taken to the lane though. Never so much as cared for anyone else since...Blades only.
Only watch good football other than them so depends who’s worth watching.
Man City and Liverpool at the moment...Arsenal under Wenger previously

Born in 1954, so my football choices in Worksop were a bit limited. Aged 5/6 i was sucked into the Spurs glory days, Blanchflower, McKay, Cliff Jones etc.
Once I became aware that my big brother was a blades fan and allowed at age 11 to get the bus to the lane, I was smitten. As a short arse I only caught glimpses of my heroes, but the atmosphere standing on the old kop was mesmerising.
The only other footie we got was MotD, until 1966 and the world cup.
I favoured Roger Hunt industrious) over Jimmy Greaves (poacher), so gradually my second team choice moved to Liverpool and they didn't disappoint. Clemence Lawler St John Hunt, through to colour TV and Toshack Keegan Smith Lloyd crazy horse, these lads made watching on telly much more exciting.
In real life it was alternate weekends at the lane with Badger Shaw Hodgkinson Woodward Reece and Currie.

The last cup game I saw at the Lane was against Liverpool. Gerrard had a stinker lol

I still look for Spurs and Liverpool results after ours, and before Wendys.

Good post. We’re the same age and started watching the Blades at the same time.I also had a similar length bus journey to the Lane, tested my faith over the years.
Everyone around me, family etc supported Leeds, one even offered to take me and pay for entrance to every Leeds match..f**k that

Any particular reason Hibs seem so popular with many Blades, based on this thread ?

Sectarianism is like two bunch of adults attacking each other over what snacks you put out for Santa on Christmas Eve.

Maybe, but I started in 1973 because it was when a Hibs fan who was in my class from August 1973 and we are still mates to this day.

my imaginary friend is better than you imaginary friend ;)
It’s the same imaginary friend. The argument is about how this imaginary friend should be worshipped. Because a couple of blokes said they’d spoken to the imaginary friend and he’d told them how to go on.

Sheffield FC. Short walk away and Thornbridge on draught so always nip down on international breaks or midweekers. Can't bring myself to have any sort of affinity for any other league teams though.

Loosely follow the teams I've seen on numerous weekend breaks around Europe too.

Well done GB for having the courage to admit you were a glory hunter in your early days, bet your Dad knew you would come to your senses later.

Well we were also pretty damn shite back then to be fair, and I guess with a young family in the late 70s and early 80s and one wage I suspect football was a luxury that couldnt be afforded. I suspect that the moment he knew he had to do something would have been when I bought a Liverpool shirt (crown paints). Blades shirts just couldn’t be bought away from the club shop so saving some birthday money up I bought that one from a local sports shop. Up to then he used to give me some stick but I’d just say Liverpool were the best!
Pretty soon after that the visits to the lane started properly, and although we were 4th division I guess I must have been pretty hooked from then on, and found those rare visits with the old man and grandad were simply brilliant, stood on the John street terrace.

Would love to go back and do it all again, not sure what my grandad would have made of all this Sky tv, foreign infested, diving wimp footballers that we have now though!
