that we actually won last night and through to the quarter finals of the FA Cup. OMG, virtually all the posts are so bloody negative it's doing my head in. It's Brewster this, or Norwood that, it was only a championship side; we're going to drop down the divisions. This is that is wrong with social media and just grateful it wasn't around when we were in the old 4th division. I agree with debate, but let's put it in perspective.

To me a cup run doesn't paper over the cracks of the current league position. Remember when we had them cup runs with clough but was shite in the league? Think everyone wanted a promotion because we was never going to win a cup in league 1.

Agree cup run is unlikely to end up us hoisting the trophy at Wembley but.....every time we have won in the cup we have gone on to win in the league. Its momentum. Will it ultimately mean we stay up? Probably not but without the cup wins - we might not have actually won a sodding game this season

Good point mate. Was just saying like a semi/final doesn't mean weve had a good season if you get what I mean but it has helped us pick up momentum for the league.

A semi-final in a season like this IF fans could go is a welcome distraction from the league but an empty 90,000 seater stadium is hardly a moment most players will remember. Ive seen plenty slagging off the performance last night. Thought we played well but it was typical of us, lots of play around the box but the killer final ball is missing. Bristol City offered very little. But we still won, go into Wet Spam hopefully thinking we can get something.

You get a more positive view of us on Porktalk.

An industrial dose of perspective required for some people methinks.

all about perspective.

Imagine —— We play out a comfortable one nil win in sub zero conditions to a decent play off challenging side on the way to getting promoted automatically from the championship in 2019.... everyone says job done, professional performance and it was comfortable.

Now because we’ve had 6 months of being garbage and we are going to go down it’s like there are literally no positives to take from the season for some.

Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t brilliant but we are still decimated and recovering form and confidence this season. It at least gives us something to build on. The context of 6 wins in 9 shouldn’t be ignored when We have 3 midfielders at the club. The starting left back is currently what 4/5th choice there. no defenders to spare. Our best defender and midfielder are crocked.

If both attempts that hit the bar went in, after good football round the edge of the box, this forum is completely different today. That inch or so has made all the difference.

No it doesn't but it was bloody good fun. The proudness of the team at Wembley was something I will never forget.

Watched the game last night and to be fair United bossed possession all night, bar last few minutes but we are woeful in last 3rd of pitch, I can't explain it but we seem to want to take 5 or 6 passes when 1 or 2 will do. We are definitely over egging the pudding up front with all the tippy tappy one touch stuff, yes gives you possession but we need goals.

I must admit was surprised when we got penalty but I'll take it no matter what, we need to sharpen up in our attack thank god for Billy and Didzy.

Yes very true but I'll remember this relegation more than a cup run where we can't even attend Wembley as fans.

I'm not sure anyone is saying otherwise (I'm certainly not). This thread is about celebrating a win - pure and simple.

Agreed although I thought their young left back had a great game as did most of their back line. I thought maybe we could pressurise the youngest a bit more but he looked steady and had a old head on young shoulders. Didzy on a different day would have had a couple he had similar efforts last night to that goal he scored away at Hull in our promotion season and they weren't far off.
