Reaching the end of my tether now. I've backed Wilder all season - yes he got us in to this position and for that he should get plaudits - but similarly he now must carry the can for absolutely fucking blowing it when just a week ago we could've gone 4 clear at top.
A few of my main gripes:
- Refusal to drop Robinson. Yes he tries hard etc etc, fact is he is NOT GOOD ENOUGH for this level. He has single handedly cost us at least 4 points this season and that is being conservative
- Not building on our advantage. How many times now have we snuck in front and then while we have momentum we just sit there and defend with no attacking intent. More alarmingly is that it doesn't seem to matter what the clock reads, whether it be the last 10 mins or we still have 70 left to play, if we go ahead we shut up shop. Fucking go for the kill, absolutely inexcusable when you are top 3 to sit back and cling on to a lead against relegation fodder. That's not entitlement it's fact, are budget blows teams like Plymouth out of the water and we should rightly expect to beat them.
- Insistence on playing Cannon. I don't have an axe to grind with Cannon, I feel we just don't play to his strengths but right now all that matters is it's not happening for him, so play a striker that looks like scoring... Especially at such a critical point in the season.
- Failure to bring in a Souttar replacement. Spaffed 10m on a striker we didn't need, when our stand out CB has just been injured. This just beggars belief, it doesn't take a master tactician to realize that performances will drop unless he is adequately replaced.
Really, really disappointed. As said credit to Wilder for the squad rebuild etc, but the past 3 results are on him.
