World’s most expensive right back in Walker and maybe soon the world’s most expensive centre back in Maguire?
£2m spread over 2 years though. Marvellous.
Wont leave leicester yet in my opinion.. having a good world cup? Yeah certainly but he's not a world class centre half yet.
The standard of striker hes played against in the world cup isnt on par with who hes come up against in the premier league on a weekly basis, nowhere near and from what ive seen of him on tv playing for leicester hes looked nothing more than a steady premier league cb
Walker was the one who really showed his value last night. Maguire did ok but looked a little clumsy a couple of times.
If he hadn't played for us I don't think we'd be quite as high on his performances, although he has been excellent.
Another season with Leicester and England might be good but if he could get a move to a club like City it'd be daft not to
Agree mostly. But I think you can win things without world class players (whatever the definition is). We just need a settled 15 players to choose from and incremental growth from players still young enough to do that. And I think Kane and Walker are better than you are giving them credit for. Walker was mostly excellent and Kane played a combo of no 9, no 10, no 8 and target man because he's such a good player. More from Alli and he could have stayed up topSome sense being talked here. This is the problem with the national side - players look good when surrounded by World-class players at club level, but are shown wanting on the national stage. I'm thinking Sterling, Alli and yes Walker and Kane. Taking the rose-tinted glasses off, Maguire could be (at best) described as 'effective'. Raphaël Varane of France (and Real Madrid) is miles ahead.
This England World Cup run has reminded me of the Blades in the 2014 FA Cup. We've done far better than expected but you know the 'big boys' are around the corner. Like us in 2014, England have been heroic and have some great memories. But we knew Arsenal were waiting for us, just as France are waiting for Croatia.
Harry needs to leave Leicester as their team is breaking up and will never replicate their title-winning season. Kyle will soon be replaced at City as he's shown in Russia he's not at the top of the game.
So well done England. It's been a good ride but I don't think we've got one World-class player. France have got at least five.
