Who will flinch first?

For me it's a 3 horse race between us scunny and Bolton.

Which normally means we miss out on the last day

Conclusions drawn after 1/3 of a season are often known as speculation. Some of you need a benzodiazepine.

Agree with the points about the JTW, very important.

For me:
  • Depth in CM needed, and quality. Coutts has had a return to form and Fleck is incredible so far, but we don't have much beyond that.
  • Tie down the Centre half options, namely try to buy EEL.
  • There's the option of Brayford returning in the summer, the player has said so himself. Could he be brought back in Jan?
  • Sign a player that is a real sign of quality and intent, nowt to upset the apple cart in the dressing room, but to show we mean business.

We have no devine right of course but why can't we get to Christmas unbeaten? (19 games). If we approach matches with the right mindset as we have during the last 11 there is no reason why this can't be achieved. The fixtures look far more winnable than the previous ones with only Charlton away being a potential banana skin. Without getting cocky, let's show a bit of confidence!

With six very winnable home games and three away games at Chesterfield, Charlton and Coventry to the end of the year, and if we can maintain our form and more importantly our current mentality, there's no reason why we couldn't remain unbeaten.

Chessy will be an interesting one because they are on an awful run, (6 straight defeats is it now?), but of course they're playing us and there's the you know who factor.

I'm in the SBT camp on this one. Previous years have had me worrying about what was coming up and what other teams were doing and what's more, why they were doing it. This season this team is a completely different proposition mentally. I just take it a game at a time and I get the feeling the team has adopted a "who's next to go down?" approach. I like that. MK - gone. Next please!

Only worry I have is injuries and replacements. There is still a Mr Eeyore in there after all.

We've already played 5 of the top 7 we have had the toughest start of all those at the top the fact most of them have to play each other is enough for me we are in a strong position just keep doing what we're doing and the league position will look after itself

Absolutely. We have played the top 3 away and only gave points to Bolton when we were finding our feet. Bramall Lane is becoming a much more difficult proposition for teams this season. Win at home and don't lose away and we will be OK.

Think it will be similar to last season and I reckon Us, Bolton , Bradford and Scunny will make up the top 4.

There's a point to be made if you ignore our horrendous start to the season we would we out in front. Not to mention we've played all the big rivals away from home so far. So we can go into the home games without any fear. Wilder has experience of maintaining a run, so hopefully will use that experience and we keep going

January could be a big month - hopefully a few clubs as sniffing round Zak Clough and the fella getting all of scunny's goals.

Hopefully it's Scunthorpe because I have a feeling and i hope i'm right with this feeling, that a championship club will sign him in January and they'll fall to pieces

Not us, we're in an ideal position tucked back behind the leaders.

Scunny have got two very winnable games coming up, then things start to get interesting for them - they've got a very tough December.

And Bolton have won six on the spin now - they can't keep that up. They're not really that special a side.

Bradford are good. But an automatic promotion side?

It's all very even this season. Look at where Bury are now. Two or three weeks ago they were above us, now they're nearer the bottom than the top (& not only 4 points away from a relegation place).

Kin 'ell didn't realise Bolton had won 6 in a row. Thanks for worrying me. Still if we continue as I'm sure we will , nothing to fear.

Agree the JTW will likely decide who is going up. I don't think we need much freshening but I believe EEL's loan is up in January and we need to look at the CF and CM positions as well.
Think this has been covered on several threads but it is a season long loan. Wolves do have option of a recall in January.

That's a loada bollocks, it was a crap shot easily saved..

I still rate Brayford very highly, but he must be given licence to play his natural game if he ever comes back.
We all know he isn't the most switched on defender, that's because he isn't an out and out defender.

But for a full back I wouldn't switch them marauding forward runs and creating goals for a boring conscientious, steady defender who never gets in the other half.

It's all about team work, when Brayford bombs forward our less attack minded midfielder (maybe Basham) drops back to cover.
Then Brayford stays happy in a role suited to him without being made to look like a moron who's always getting caught out of position.

For the first timie in years not worrying about any team, am worried about JTW though.

Can just see Wolves recalling EEL and it upsetting the Blades train.

The team to flinch first IMO will be Scunny, let's see how they handle some interesting looking away trips coming up.

The defining time will be the JTW when a freshen up of the squad will be required for the second half of the season push . The intent of the board will be of equal importance has Wilders tactics and motivation skills . We have a historical tendency to fall at the final hurdle . This year the signs are different with a built in inner belief , strength and winning mentality . Fuck knows we have waited long enough for the moment .

UTB

I think that we are still very much "work in progress" and a "freshening-up" of the squad ( in other words strengthening) will certainly be needed on 1st January if we are to genuinely pursue promotion this season.

It will be seen at this point just how much support Tufty can count on from the Board o_O

I would suggest that he's likely to be looking at CF, CM, RB, and CH if we don't secure the services of EEL ......

UTB & FTP

But surely EEL will stamp his feet and show off because he wants a transfer.
Then Wolves are not only obliged to give him a transfer but they have to do it on the cheap as well

The alternative is that they keep an unhappy player who WILL WITHOUT DOUBT affect the whole club

That's how the transfer market works isn't it ?
Kevin McCabe has told us this hundreds of times

Don't rate Brayford at all as he has lost interest. Gone elsewhere. Head gone elsewhere. Project and pay gone elsewhere. Not a Wilder player. Had he been he would have bought in and played. CW knew very quickly (as an ex pro), what he was doing. Bye Bye. Don't come back. Thanks for the memories.

and the reason they would do this would be to get a transfer fee for him, I can definitely see this happening.

It's long overdue that we don't give a fuck about what other teams in this awful league do or don't do. All we need to do is get behind our club and team as it's screamingly obvious we have for the first time in years got a manager who is not just a massive Blade but actually understands the DNA,chemistry, vibe, expectation and has the ability to manager all those things. A bloke who calls it straight. Takes no shit from board or players and has the strength both mental and physical to force his plans and needs into a previous sack of shit squad who, with some astute signings have clearly bought into his masterplan.
Fuck every other shithouse outfit in this league. For the first time in years we are SHEFFIELD UFUCKINGNITED and we are on the fucking march!

Top post. For two long we have given too much respect to the opposition in this league. If we keep winning it doesnt fucking matter what the other tin pot clubs do.

And we should be wiping the floor with the likes of Port Vale. It's criminal we've had to wait until now for it to happen (after Wilson's first season).

Just realised that our 3 main promotion rivals from Centurions season are all in the bottom half of league 2 - there's something kind of tragic about that (apart from in the case of Bolton of course). Suddenly being second bottom of the Premier League doesn't seem quite so bad.

And how far we will fall when we don’t ever again win a single game of football and plummet down the leagues into bankruptcy and oblivion.

Just trying to fit in with the general mood on the forum.
