who were we really expecting?

can't believe some of the negative comments with respect to the next manager appointment.
as a club we have potential but currently sit outside the top 40 clubs in England,did we really expect the shortlist to compromise of rafa,jose & mancini!
I would be happy with any of the three so called front runners (robinson/McCall/southgate) but can't see why McCall would give up a chance to manage a side in Europe - think it might be a while before that happens at bramall lane.

No chance that McCall would chat to us if he wasn't interested.

After doing some reading on his time at Motherwell I would go

1. McCall
2. Robinson

My money however is on southgate

To be in with a shout of the Manger of the season from a team who have European qualifcation behind them and the guy knows the pitfalls of working here isn't too bad for a D3 club.

Hope is knocking on the door.
Will we answer it and invite it in?
 
Seems as though these 3 have emerged as the frontrunners. Personally, KR is the least favoured of these. I think there is still a joker in the pack that might emerge, Roy Keane possibly!
 
The longer this drags on the more I think McCall is the best we can hope for. Not too fussed about Robinson. Southgate or Keane :eek::eek: at least Dickoff is out of the running :p
 
McCall is the most likely - He's used to having no money to spend.
 
I will be happy with either McCall or Robinson, I'd prefer Robinson out of the two. I was expecting us to appoint the likes of Morgan, Southgate or Wilder, really hope we don't.
 
I was expecting Appleton. A good reputation as a coach, available without compensation and likely to want to go long term after this seasons club hopping.
 
I was, (and still am to a certain extent) expecting Morgan so anything over and above that is a bonus....:eek:
 
I'd still want Karl Robinson to be delivered although that deal has probably hit a snag in that either MK Don want too much money and United have baulked at the figure, or that he has baulked at the wage budgets we have in place next season.

Stuart McCall i have mixed feelings about, he has done a good job at Motherwell but the SPL has been poor this season, and his Bradford stint was less than glorious.

Gareth Southgate out of the three is an absolute no for me.
 
Any one of McCall, Robinson and Southgate and I will be a happy Houso.

I now expect McCall and think he'll be appointed before Monday.

I would expect either McCall, KR or Southgate.

Who had heard of Solbakken when Wolves appointed him as manager.
 
McCall for me is an obvious choice for me. Spend is limited where he is with a similar wage issue. He has worked wonders in a similar quality league to the one we are in. He is good at getting the best out of those limited resources.

His style of play is good but he isn't scared to have a plan b that is direct when required. I would say if he can make a deal we might have done as well as we could expect if we get MacCall. Happy? Not exstatic but about as good as you could have wished for.
 
If it meant promotion from league 1 and possibly from the championship, who would be happy if United followed Watford and hired a Italian manager who brought in good players (in relation to the championship and league 1) from the Italian teams reserves / youth team?

No for me. I'm guessing the Watford project costs them an arm and a leg. Would kill us and suck the soul further from the club. More players through the door who don't give a fuck? No thanks.

Getting an entire team of loans and being allowed to play them all at once might not necessarily be a bad thing. Proof is in the pudding if they get promoted this weekend and if they have the option keep some of those players permanently.
 
it doesnt matter who gets the job ,the disaffection of the support and chairman means stagnation is the future of sheffield united
