Brayford for me. ..looked comfortable. Thought hill done well second half but for me his place at full back is up for grabs. .he's better at cb in my opinion

Hill? Second half maybe but his first half display left a lot to be desired. Looked incredibly nervy. I think when Harris is up to speed, he will be first choice with Hill back up for LB and CB. Thought Hill was much better at centre back to be fair.

Brayford was excellent but so was Flynn on that right hand side. Already signs that those two can partner up and be a formidable force. Flynn's best spell for SUFC was December-March in the first season down in L1 with Lowton bombing up and down from full back and I hope the signing of Brayford helps him rediscover that more consistently. If Brayford goes, Flynn will drop back - as he did with Lowton - and it should cause the opposition all ends of trouble especially in L1.

Scougall impressed me second half with his running, looks the jinky player we saw on the YouTube video, he scared PL defenders to death at one point so what will he do to L1 defenders? My only worry is the L1 cloggers that will kick him all over - to get the best out of him, we need strong referees and he needs to be able to keep going after a whack.

I'm dying for Baxter to get fit and last 90 minutes even when we have to work hard. Second half, whenever he got it, we sprung at them and looked dangerous regardless of the man less. However, we faded and became more desperate when Baxter dropped out of it. Coady was excellent as well today, he was doing the work of two men second half thanks to Doyle.

I don't think we'll knock them out in the replay but the performance is encouraging for the rest of the season in L1. We clearly have quality and we are going to give somebody a real hiding sooner or later. Hopefully, it will be Peterborough on Wednesday but I fear the increased work we needed to get through thanks to Doyle and the muddy pitch may work against us in that game.

UTB.

Hill excellent second half at CB, not so good first half. I'm loathe to give a MOM as they played so well together as a team, bar one, but was well impressed with Brayford. Murphy.....just

Unfair to sinlge anyone out as there were some terrific performances out there.

However....

Not MoTM, but Scougall already shows potential for 'Legend' status!

Might be a controversial choice, but I thought Collins did extremely well in difficult conditions. Best game of his in ages.

For all the stick Long for some reason continues to get, he was faultless today - and did well to react to the deflection off Brayford to turn round the post. Horrible conditions for a keeper today - even the easiest looking trickler of a shot can spill off you.

I find it hard to understand why some in here criticise Long. He was great again today but there is one thing I would advise him is that some refs are strict on keepers holding the ball for no more than 6 seconds. Twice he held the ball for more than 10 seconds and I was surprised the ref didnt notice it

For me the players who weren't asked to leave the pitch early by the ref all played really well so one didn't stand out head and shoulders above the rest although Coady played the best I have seen him play and I hope he and McGinn can form a partnership over the next few games. Scougall seems to have something we haven't had for a long time and at the moment will be used as an impact sub for the last 30 mins or so. Brayford also had the best debut for a full back new to the club since Vas.

As has been mentioned already, lets hope this form continues in the league as that performance today was not akin to a team near the bottom of L1. Lets hope with Paynter leading the line we could start to make some real movement up the league.

Brayford or Baxter. Brayford looked the part throughout the entire game. Never worried me. Baxter worked hard and doesn't sweat much for a fat lad. He's starting to look the part.

The most surprising and satisfying thing for me is that I wasn't surprised how well Flynn and Murphy played.

Brayford for me. Heard a few people get excited that we could sign him in the summer. Would be a heck of a signing on a permanent basis.

Hill had a mare first half ,Harris looked a much better left back ,but he had a terrific second half ,looks much better at centre half ,however he must concentrate more ,he was caught miles behind the back 4 loads of times. Cant see the great performance Long had ,some very suspect punches put us under pressure ,but in a nervous game he held on quite well.
Brayford for me just ahead of all the others ,special mentions for Coady and Collins ,all 3 new boys looked good ,and good players make other players play better.

Tin hat time.
Brayford had Rodallega then seemed to leave him which allowed Rodallega to shoot.
