Given I read a multitude of views on here as to where our problems lie, who would you like the Blades to sign (realistically) in the transfer window? Also, with the exception of Kilgallon, are we likely to ship anyone out?

We desperately need a creative wide player, just as we have for the past few seasons.

I also think, after watching him in enough games now, think Cresswell would be a poor signing. We may need a target man to cover Hendo but Cresswell has been poor apart from his début where he actually did well.

After seeing the best efforts of Andy Taylor tonight, i would say a left-back would be a priority

Taylor is not good enough for the Blades and Kallio was missed tonight which upset the left hand side.
Another left back is a priority but then so are other positions.
Without quality signings in the window we will continue to struggle to get to grips with this league which is mediocre to say the least.

We badly missed Kallio tonight who looked like a class act.

The thing is you need consistancy from your full-back otherwise you will ship in goals left, right and centre and that is something we have not got at the moment.

Is Kyel Reid that bad that Blackwell won't even bring him on as a last ditch sub to try and prove his worth? We desperately needed pace and enthusiasm last night and the shoddy lot who were chosen as the starting 11 severely lacked it, bar Bunn and Killgallon unfortunately but both could be off in 4 days!

Ward should play centrally in my opinion, possibly with Camara starting in the next game at home to Preston. Something needs shaking up and if Quinn/Harper continue as they are we may even need to give Little a shot.

Oh and Naysmith may be back soon; Andy Taylor was woeful last night, absolutely shocking - poor distribution, lost possession too many times to count and was turned by the opposition every attack.

Nobody. We should save our money until Blackwell leaves the club. His record of signing players is abysmal. The thought of him wasting another few million scares me to death.

PMSL, how many times has this been asked? And how many times have the gullible masses been disappointed.............for about 20 minutes until they start looking forward to the next transfer window.........and then the next one and the one after that.

We have no ambition and are nothing but a selling club so don't go getting all giddy about potential signings, they won't happen.

How's about trying to sign Darren Huckerby, I seem to remember his name being bandied about once or twice in various transfer windows :fishy::easy::fishy:

:gallop:

Michael Brown anyone.....................!

Seriously, a centre back and a keeper are essential, (to replace Killa & Bunn) St Ledger at centre half for me.

Well lets all be honest we are lacking in quite a few areas on the pitch.

However this league is so poor we could easily get into the top 6 with what we have.

Yes, but what would be the point?
Good passing football which is precisely what we sadly lack and desperately need!

I know what you are saying but your logic [won't succeed within our style of play?] dictates that we shall play hoofball for ever more! I'm not prepared to subscribe to that philosophy of despair.

Stock in. Monty out, Blackwell OUT!

I think Howard is a different kettle of fish I don't think he ever was a consistent performer.

The problem is we all go over excited at us buying a ball player and didn't know what to expect.
Howard wasn't the real deal, we just hoped he was.

I just think that under Blackwell buying better midfield players means better players who get bypassed and don't get involved. I actually like Monty because you can tell he's playing even though we don't go through midfield.

I've been watching the blades since 1993, so despair is pretty much all I know.

We desperately need at least one CB to replace Killa. I'd like to see a left winger to replace Treacy as we can only presume that Kyel Reid is actually complete bobbins. Also I'd like us to ditch Cresswell - I think he's past his best.

As for names, I've truly no suggestions beyond Kallio. The idea we can afford the likes of St Ledger is sadly misguided, so I think we're looking at lesser known players, perhaps from Div1. I don't see enough football to suggest anyone from that echelon.

I'd also like to think that we've some good'uns in the academy. Can our resident reserve watchers suggest anyone with a realistic hope of emerging?

My final hope for the new year is that if we're doomed to mid-table, then we seek to player better football. That'd be some consolation.

Harper must not be dropped. He played three passes last night that no-one else in red and white could possibly have executed.

When Williamson is back, I'd say we're just a left sided player away from a very respectable midfield four.

Unfortunately, you can add Reid to the collection of players that Blackwell has signed to play out wide, but has decided for one reason or another that they don't warrant a place in the team. Cotterill, Reid, Little, Treacy. The only players he seems to like playing there are people that are better suited elsewhere on the pitch - Ward (striker), Cresswell (striker), Quinn (middle), Stewart (bench). Even Halford was really a right back.

I'd say we desperately need a new player or two out wide. Unfortunately, I'm not convinced Blackwell knows who to look for, nor what to do in the event he signs a decent one.

Maybe, turning it all round, the fact that he has all these players to tinker about with is actually proving detremental, so adding extra fringe players/sqaud fillers in January (because no-one lets their best players go in the JTW) is possibly going to make the waters only muddier?

We do...

No one we clearly have a good enough squad already.

Getting more players in would just disrupt the quality we already have.

That tall blond back of Leicester's looked a very competant player continually broke down our attacks and won every header. For me he was their man of the match.

I know I put it on a plate, but it still needed tapping in. 2 points Rev.

Well it seems like everyone knows where they want to strengthen the team, just a shame very few have any names of actual players they can throw in to the pot.

Me, I think we need a couple of brilliant wingers and a fabulous free-scoring centre forward.

Get it sorted Mr Blackwell, it's not like Rooney Giggs and Ronaldo won't want to sign for us, WE ARE SHEFFIELD UNITED.

They won't care a jot that they could earn bundles more elsewhere.

Now where did I put my playstation?

btw, happy new year to one and all :-)

If we could get Paddy and Naysmith back tomorrow then we only need 2 players - A left/right winger and a forward. Sadly the news that Killa will almost certainly be going dictates that we must sign a centre half as well - so make it three....

Sean St. Ledger (in limbo as not signing permanently for Boro)
Lloyd Sam (seen him for Charlton this season - improved a lot)
Jonathan Stead (why did we sell him?!)

Mr McCabe is reportedly working hard to find investment for January and I hope he's successful. We desperately need to add quality to these areas. When Killa is gone we will struggle at the back, we struggle for pace down the flanks and when Henderson doesnt play we find goals hard to come by.

.
Says who? All I've seen is that his loan deal finished and he's gone back to Preston till January when the deal will be finalised.

If he doesn't even make the bench tomorrow then I think we have our answer.

As for Stead, please he's hardly set the world alight since leaving.
