Assuming that Flynn keeps his place on one wing, who should play on the other?

Young Jordan looked ok to me. Took a while to settle but when he got the ball he looked ok and pretty confident to go forward. I'd be happy to see him start again and alternate with Flynn throughout the game.

I can't say I'm too thrilled with any of the options personally.
Like Danny Wilson, I'd rather get Gallagher back on loan and return to the previously successful away team.
If we're going to play a forward out wide it might as well be Miller but I don't think DW will play him there.
How about Harriot? Could he be a good wide midfielder if we're playing a patient, passing game?

Chappell did enough for me last night to warrant being given a spot being as we are short on wide men. I hate the idea of playing central players out wide. Williamson did well there last year, but apart from that, I'd much prefer us to be playing someone who's position is bread and butter, rather than a striker or central midfielder covering up there.

I'm afraid there's a bit of wishful thinking here about Chappell. He contributed very little in my view. He wasn't terrible but to suggest he did enough to earn a start is surely a bit rose-tinted.

I'm with Pinchy here. I wanted Chappell to do well but he was in the left back's pocket for most of the game. He did, however, show flashes and could develop into a good player.

I'd prefer to see a narrow midfield three (Doyle, Harriot and McDonald) with three up front: Blackman, Kitson and Miller. We'd possibly struggle on the left though if Williams was playing at left back.

If the only other choice is Cofie may as well try Chappell. At least he's ours.

I didn't think Chappell did much to warrant another start so I've gone for Mcfadzean based on the limited times I've seen him play.

Wouldn't be against Balham's suggestion either.

To tell the truth, Westlake looked capable going forward on Wednesday, so if we have to go with him on the right I wouldn't throw a strop.

Chappell impressed in pre season in 2010. Message boards contained messages saying "who was that quick winger down our right. Thought he was brilliant!" Didn't see those games myself, but the tone of the views were similar to those when Naughton and other youngsters came into the side. People didn't know who he was, but were impressed.

Since then we've tried the approach of developing him in the reserves and in training. It is the difficult way of developing a youngster, they all learn more at first team level. He would have been a better player now, if he had played more.

Chappell is the only quick and tricky right sided winger in the squad. It is a player type that we lack and we have to find out now if he can do well at first team level. Rather than playing players out of position again I think we should give him a few games.

McDonald may like an out and out winger to pass to. Kitson may like someone to add more width and provide crosses. Our counter attacking could benefit from someone who likes to run at defenders. Let's try to find out now if Chappell, rather than a striker, central midfielder or full back, can give us that.

I didn't think Chapell did too much against Notts County either, he's worth a place on the bench though as I think he could make an impact if he's brought on later in the game and as Bergen says, he's actually a winger!

I was disappointed that McFadzean wasn't involved the other night, I think he's worth a go down the left. I'd go for McFadzean and Flynn against Preston with Chapell coming on later in the game.

A tricky choice between having balance in side (i.e. Chappell out wide) or having most quality in the team. I think latter should be prioritised, with Miller playing out wide as a result. Would like to see Flynn go to the right flank, with Miller on left playing almost as a third striker then Hill as left back (if Collins returns) can not foray forward too much.

Surely Miller has to play? If two world-class (Yes, they were that good) strikes can't buy a forward a place, what can? Play Flynn as the winger with Miller having a freer role behind Kits and the Blackman.
