Foxy Ball_Sup (Phil) what's the smallest first team ground (not training ground or academy) you've seen a Blades team play?
Probably Sandygate for me.

Would she like to come and sort my garage out?My stats are similar Brownie, wife's doing a count up. We've got programmes for them all.
Yes I can count but each end of season she sorts them all into next season's leagues anyway, yep, keen as mustard.
Many Training Grounds/Academies are well appointed. Often there is no stand or terrace. But, the pitches are usually very good. Off the top of my head, the best Academy I've seen an SUFC XI play on (for spectator facilities) is Swansea City. A four row, covered stand down the length of one side.Foxy Ball_Sup (Phil) what's the smallest first team ground (not training ground or academy) you've seen a Blades team play?

Away games or different grounds?
Well then I must be nearly up with you Furphy. I think you may have a couple more than me but my guess of 130ish might be a bit short.141 not counting friendlies
Come on Furph, don't be shy. What was the final number for consecutive first team games - I stopped taking an interest once you were over 1,000. Superb effort....141 not counting friendlies
I think he went over the twenty year mark without missing a game. I’m fairly sure that he can’t actually remember attending some of them after Goodson had finished with him though.Come on Furph, don't be shy. You wrote about it in Flashing Blade at the time?I did all the then 92 grounds in the Football League at that Vetch Field, late eighties, early nineties Basset in charge. We drew 2 - 2. Since then there have been quite a few clubs coming in to the Football League most of whom we have played at so stage. Then there are all the teams who have had new grounds, been to all but West Ham and Brighton. Then add on Wembley, both kinds, Cardiff, Dundee and St Mirren, Anglo Scottish cup and Scarborough in the Yorkshire Cup.
Without counting, and I can’t be bothered at the moment, I must be getting around that figure.
I remember reading in the Star about a Blade (whose nickname is Furphy cos he used to have a coat Like Ken Furphy) who had not missed a Blade match for so many years. Was it you?141 not counting friendlies
Yeh me twice. It was a shit terrace with 3 or 4 concrete steps and then a cow shed type thing at the top of the muddy grass bank that formed the rest of the away end!.Anybody go to the old Elm Park?View attachment 39797
Couldn't have described it better myself other than.......what a shithole!Yeh me twice. It was a shit terrace with 3 or 4 concrete steps and then a cow shed type thing at the top of the muddy grass bank that formed the rest of the away end!.
If my memory serves me right?. UTB
I think Matt Bell might have written an article. There were about eight to ten of us who’d all been waiting ages to do Swansea away to complete the ninety two grounds with United. You wrote about it in Flashing Blade at the time?
No, not me but Therealfurphy, see posts above. He went about twenty something seasons without missing a game home or away.I remember reading in the Star about a Blade (whose nickname is Furphy cos he used to have a coat Like Ken Furphy) who had not missed a Blade match for so many years. It was 28 years without missing a game - League, FA Cup and whatever the League Cup was called, just over 1500 on the trot.

Sure did....can't remember the year but think it was early 80's..... Near to the ground we noticed some ladders set up against a house (guy must have been inside getting some more paint) - we carried them to the ground down the road and climbed over....straight into Reading's open 'kop'.Anybody go to the old Elm Park?View attachment 39797
There was a nice Moorlands pub, The Spread Eagle I think, across the road from the ground.Anybody go to the old Elm Park?View attachment 39797
I doff my hat to you sir .
Throughout the 80s and early 90s I was regularly in the late 30s early 40s in terms of games attended every season but for some reason I could never quite complete full attendance at every game in a season . Christ knows how you managed what you did but fair play to you for that . I've almost certainly enjoyed a beer or two with you along the way![]()
