I'm still flummoxed why Howe and Dyche haven't been given opportunities to manage a top six club, especially Howe whom has taken Bournemouth from League 1 to an established premier league club playing attractive football (Wilder has reiterated on numerous occasions on how he sees Bournemouth as a model to replicate). Therefore I can't see Wilder being taken seriously by top Premiership sides unless he wins a trophy or we get into the top six etc.
There was an Everton fan on Talksport radio last night.
When asked would Everton fans take Howe, he said “everyone tries to link Eddie Howe to Everton because he’s a big Everton fan”
But then said that managing Everton is a world away from managing Bournmouth, there would be big pressure and expectation.
He said when Howe went to Burnley he struggled and thinks he’s a great match for small clubs.
His suggestion for next Everton manager was Jose Mourino.
He also commented about us too. He said Sheffield United played really well against Everton, they did what you would expect and parked the bus with everyone in defence. Said Everton always seem to struggle against teams that set our to frustrate them and in that respect Wilder got his tactics right.
He thought he was paying us a complement but as Wilder said Saturday was our worse performance of the season. We were terrible on the ball and didn’t play well.
Also previously we’ve rarely sit back parking the bus, it’s not our style but obviously this Everton fan (like 90% of PL fans) didn’t know this.
Perry Groves was doing the match commentary on Talksport for our match on Saturday.
He was actually complementary about us. He said that Everton had loads of possession and loads of passes
But weren’t going anywhere and didn’t really look like scoring. Although our defence was busy he said we looked comfortable.
Said it was the classic away display by Sheffield United. He said he also saw us away at Chelsea and based on what he’s seen think we’ll stay up.
