The 3 at the back, wing backs, midfield trio or Didsy. I'd say there's a few where our ever fluid formation looks a bit disjointed if they're not around, but do we have any players that with either a sale or long term injury would cause us to rethink the system we play? Or if not rethink it, it would be a shadow in terms of effectiveness of it's former self.

I'm thinking Coutts' injury at Burton level. We've evolved since then in lots of ways, but who else would have that sort of effect now?

I can't look any further than JOC personally. If we lost him for a length of time I'd honestly expect us to be relegated, if he stays fit we'll stay up. He's that important. I've only seen Mings (in the flesh) who I think could do half the job JOC does. No one else comes close.
Honourable mentions for Enda, Fleck, Ollie and McGoldrick - but Jack comes in over everyone in my opinion.

I'll make a bold prediction and I'm happy for it to be bumped if I'm wrong (but I'll bump it myself when I'm right) - Jack O'Connell plays a full season = we stay up. And we have a £40mil centre half on our hands to boot. He's that good.

Take Fleck out and we're lost. Not that many will ever realise that.

McGoldrick has probably become the key since effectively taking over the 10 position.

O'Connell too - irreplaceable.

The strength of the spine.

Build around that.

The goalkeeper for me, always has been and always will. Either the first line of attack or the last line of defence, should instill confidence in the back three/four/five, must also be able to play as a sweeper at times. Brendan Rodgers whilst Celtic played a keeper who's main strength was ''creating play'', under Neil Lennon, his philosophy is for his choice to ''save goals''.

Henderson. My choice.

Amended that for you

I don't think it's as simple as one player, they all play their part, that's the beauty of it. Is it the overlapping CBs, they couldn't commit to that without Norwood dropping back etc etc

I think the system is more important than the players in it .it evolves around the players in it and I think this season will be different to previous seasons with the inclusion of more dynamism ,pace and technical ability in the forward areas

Last year - Norwood and JOC were completely irreplaceable.

This year... the squad is now so deep that no one is safe! However, I still think we don't have proper competition for Norwood, so I will still go with him.
