I remember speaking to Rooks in the ticket office on the day before the start of the 2007-08 season and I was telling him that I didnt think appointing Robson as our new manager is a good decision but he said that he was very confident about Robson taking us back to the Premiership!

Just shows how even the most ardent and knowledgable fan can be fooled by being fed a line. Some of us not ITK were gobsmacked I rang Radio Pig at the time and was tongue tied because I could't understand why Robson had been appointed.

Warnock was (and still is) an egotistical self serving twat who fucked up the second half of our premiership season with his tactics and selections, but he is and was a Blade. Until Wilder leads us to a promotion (and he may just do that), out of the four I would take Warnock. However, being an old Blade John Harris is the hero and Bassett (sorry Pinchy) was a man needed at the time. Industrial, but bloody exciting sometimes.

Funnily enough, the most depressing thing I can remember in those dark days was Stewart Houston in 1980 -1981. I don't think I will ever forget watching the monotonous left foot aimless punt to a piece of pitch I nicknamed Houston's cabbage patch. I'd take Warnock in a heartbeat. He's an egotistical prick that plays ugly football. But under him the team didn't deserve to give anything but their best, and he got us promoted. We were good to watch purely because we never gave up, even on our off days.

I assumed this was going to be a poll of recent managers but can't understand why you'd include Warnock from eons ago, but not the more recent one in Danny Wilson.

If DW had been on the list I'd have gone for him without hesitation. As it is, and after some deliberation, I reluctantly went for Clough as the best of a bad bunch of current propositions.

Warnock used Pompey as a lever to try and screw more money out of the club in a new contract. He was more interested in money than the club as you must have seen with his bizarre tactics against Villa away, spunking money "for the future" ( it doesn't take a genius to know why) and the Wigan selections.

Mandaric is no different from Warnock. Money is their God. Plus I cant remember - other than in his book - NW openly challenge Meelans version of events at the time, or when he commented again, when Colin's book came out.

One of the things I have always wanted to know about the 2006-7 season is who actually recommended the signing of Mamadou Seck, and who received money as a result of that deal.

For once you speak sense other managers have taken clubs from far worse positions to better things. Adkins CHOSE not to address the centre half position and PERSISTED with hopeless cunts Collins Flynn Mceverley and that USELESS fucker SAmmon and not only this used to talk them up as fucking world beaters. As well as this signed one of the biggest fucking donkeys I've ever seen AND made him the highest wage earner we've ever had.

Agree entirely & once again another poor decision from McCabe, having got us promoted to the PL, McCabe should have either backed or sacked NW - he did neither, he procrastinated.

I had an interesting conversation about the Wigan game with my neighbour an ex player, a few years ago whilst clearing snow from our drives - quite unbelievable.
