Christ knows when we'll get out of this dreadful division, but when we do, what direction do you think it will be in?

If you keep selling your better players and either fail to replace them or bring in shite then there is only one direction you head in. Weir must have been daft to take this job on.

I said after the Bury game last season that whether United got promoted or not, we'd be in a relegation battle season. I said it half in jest, but I can only see the diminishing returns until there's a major change. Blackwell's first full season in charge was the last time we finished in a higher league position than the previous season.

The wilderness years are here. Can we survive in this division? It will depend on the next week. Can he bring in a goal scorer and something in midfield? Who is out there that is available? Who would join? Difficult for Mr Weir.

Well look at at like this P5 W1 D1 L4 F5 A9. No wins in 4, no attacker scoring a goal, conceded in every game, at this rate unless strikers get their scoring boots on it will be Walsall all over again wth a last match against a Midlands side where both teams might be facing relegation. I wonder if it's worth a bet?

This is not defeatist, its realistic. We saw it in the Prem after Hulse got crocked, where were the goals coming from, we fell out of the championship, deservedly, and are now facing a very bleak season. No goalscorers = downward spiral.

Unless we bring in at least 3 quality players the only way is down, and I can't see McCabe allowing us to bring anyone in at all.

Is this time for Blades to take back their club? Because I've had enough of the fannying about that has seen us go from Villa Park to Prenton Park in 7 years.

If Messrs McCabe, Winter and other board members are no longer willing to fund attempts to strengthen the team and get us out of this god forsaken shithole of a division, then maybe it is time that educated, dedicated supporters got together to form a supporters trust that is seriously minded enough to attract investment/new ownership or at least show a serious intent in purchasing enough of a shareholding to have a voice in how the club should be run.

At the moment, we are only heading one way. The Club must understand that you cannot run a Rolls Royce on paraffin - or to put it another way, if they don't pull their finger out, then the future looks extremely bleak.

L3 - we haven't played 6 games ;) Honestly though I am with you I wouldn't rule out relegation I have the same feeling as in 2010/11 only then it took me until October to feel this pessimistic.

Relegation out of this division.

All fits in with Kevin McCabes managed decline of the club, leading to our future becoming unviable at Bramall Lane so he takes the ground and turns the club over to the fans as a homeless shell off a football club whilst he and Simon McCabe enjoy building on some expensive real estate.

People talking about relegation after 4 league games, with a new manager. Seriously? When did our fans become so weak and negative?

I can't see us ever playing in the fourth tier, and I can't see us not being near the top at the end of the season.

I know, right? Give the guy a chance. We were top of the league in March, for Christ's sake. Fortunes change.

This division is not so easy this year with the likes of Wolves, Peterborough, together with the usual rivals and a few of the other teams seem stronger. The fact that our team is weaker than last season does not help either.

We missed our chance last season. When we were top in the new year we should have added to the squad and supported Danny Wilson. The sale of Blackman in January was a terrible mistake and one we may live to rue for a few years.

We need Miller back he is the only hope for goals.

Even I am beginning to wander when our fortunes will change. Championship in two or three years is my shout, unless a miracle happens.

HH:(

Personally I thank that would be a miracle.

Yep that's it. If you're able to see beyond the end of your nose, you must be a clapper

Catch 22 really, if by bringing in 3 quality players it would put things right, km would have kept McDonald, blackman(quality in this league anyways). It ain't gonna happen. One can only guess at km's agenda, but my gut feelings are it's not good. Utb

I've just noticed that Alan Woodward and Keith Edwards don't have eyes and Tony Currie is a rabid zombie. That's very scary and can only signal doom for the club.

what`s weak about it? with respect the entire club is a fucking disgrace so do not blame the fans, who pay the useless clowns` wages.

with our squad in the state it is, were closer to relegation than we are to promotion, i honestly think we have one of the weaker squads in the league (we have some good league one standard players), no player in our team has creativity bar maybe Brandy, nobody capable of scoring 10 per season never mind 20. too many players on big wages not even near the first team they need shifting on but i doubt there's many in our side that other clubs would want to sign.

We've got a bottom half squad definitely, but i thought we did last season. Even when we were top of the league. If we had somehow gone up, we'd have got slaughtered every week. Peterborough came down and lets be honest they are worlds away from our team.

I'd love to know what the plan is, cos from here it looks like the plan is to keep selling players without replacing them until we have none left and get relegated. The situation is pretty impossible cos we know whoever we sell we won't get anybody decent in. Weir must be wishing he hadn't bothered taking the job already.

Maybe I used the wrong words. I grew up when we won nothing yet as fans we never caved in so easily into this negative thinking. Basically, 42 games to go and we've already written the season off. That's what I mean.

It's weird. We're shit it's undeniable, but surely Weir has a mandate to take some time to build something? If we don't want that, why not ring Warnock and we'll battle our way to promotion. The reality is, there is no quick win here. If we go up it will take time with Weir.

I'm surprised though that some of the more vocal (and constant) detractors on here literally have no appetite to try and protect the ground, or form a supporters trust and get some pressure on. They'd rather still bang on about clappers, hoofball and all that shite than do something about it.

I was thinking this today, but any new manager has to start somewhere and any clever chairman will spot the way he wants to play football and realise that even Jose Mourinho couldn't take the blades forward. Anyway isn't it the case now that when a manager fails nowadays he seems to land a better job.

Well its kind of following a pattern. Play offs then relegation, play offs then...

Look at the facts, without goalscorers we are only going one way and that is struggling. Those of us who remember the Sirrel, Haslam, Peters era know what happened.

If the defence looked as solid as last year we might scape through but so far it doesn't. We have a week or so to get someone in to address the issue. The forwards are like Jaffas at the moment.

No it's not a certainty we'll go down after 4 games. But we've got off to a bloody poor start, got rid of the one player we were meant to build around and ignoring the issues is sleepwalking into the sort of disasters that have befallen the club in the last few years.

On a point of information, we weren't bad at scoring goals in previous bad old days. In the 78-79 relegation season, we scored more goals than champions Palace and in the 80-81 relegation season, Bob Hatton got 20 in all competitions. It was at the other end we had problems with heavy defeats at such titans as Newport, Wrexham, Swindon etc

Hi Dazza, trawling through your database, what is the longest sequence of games we've gone without a forward scoring?
