I don’t understand the notion that relegating them would be irrelevant. In the grand scheme of things, perhaps so but football is so much more than winning or the end of season standings.
Having grown up around them, listening to their unfathomable sense of self-importance, listening to years of jibes about ‘little brother’ or Boxing Day or whatever else the deluded arseholes banged on about for decades, to have the opportunity for a first in the 130 odd year history of the Sheffield Derby is a delicious thought. Yes they’re shit, yes they’re going to get relegated anyway, but to have the opportunity to confirm it at Bramall Lane is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
I’m relishing the chance to see them fall in front of 30k+, laughing in unison at them and will never let them hear the end of it for as long as I exist.
