Where does Billy Sharp rank?

Peter Withe was 36 when he scored his last goals for us v Reading 1987/88
Having spent an hour looking at this I think this is the correct answer, meaning Billy Sharp is the first 36 year old to score a league goal for us for around 33 years.

Notable mentions to Ugo and Mike Whitlow who both came within a fortnight of achieving this, and Chris Kamara who played 9 games for us as a 36 y/o (it’s surprising how few we’ve had) but didn’t manage to score.

Still a long way to go to become championship oldest ever goalscorer tho!

But where would we be without our Billy ❤️⚔️

Started watching in the late 70s and in that time:

Best all round striker: Deane
Best finisher: Edwards with Sharp in 2nd.

I’m really pleased for Sharp that his 3rd spell with us is going so well. You can see how much it means to him and he does inspire those around him.

I've been watching us since the mid 70's and very much agree with that.

Deane had the height and physical presence on the pitch, great at headers, quite fast and good awareness too, excellent crosser of the ball.
Basically Deane was very good at everything. Not a natural finisher though compared to Edwards and Sharp.
Deane was on the fringes of the full England team so clearly he's far better than Edwards or Sharp.

Edwards and Sharp basically lived for scoring...always making runs into to space...scoring predator type goal poacher tap in goals.
Regards finishing Edwards edges it....always seemed to hit the target forcing the keeper to make a save.
Where as Sharp has a much better workrate and better awareness of his team mates around him than Sharp.
Don't think I ever saw Edwards set up another team mate....he rarely passed and was totally focussed on scoring.

Agree with pretty much all that.

Can you imagine Keith running round in that high-press we were playing at times today? Would’ve needed subbing on 20 mins. And oxygen.

124 goals in 248 appearances now (according to the programme). Hopefully he can keep this ratio going!

Why is Edwards 143 or 144? Was there a mystery 'ghost goal'?

Edwards set up a lot of teammates by dint of the fact that in his second spell he took our corners.

I don’t know what numbers they are using but that’s not right.

He’s got 124 total goals (113 league goals) but he’s played over 300 games.

And that's before We Are The People Crop Rotation In The 14th Century Blade has removed all penalties, all goals scored not into a headwind, any scored against a team down to 10 men, any goals scored on a date with an even number, and any goals he might have scored for a team with 'United' in their name.

In fact, he's rubbish - gerrim binned!

It is 248 starts then, because thats the number in players appearances?
