What do supporters get out of all this chaos and madness? Is it fair to keep us in the dark and fed on crap, like mushrooms?
Any manager will praise the importance of supporters, especially when the team needs great support.

It seems to me that many fans want it all and they want it now. In business as in football, managers and owners will play their cards close to their chest, for obvious reasons.

Do fans expect more in return for their support, and is that justified?

Do you want a successful team?

Is today ok, or do you also want a better future, and improvements to infrastructure.

Do we have any right to expect a long term plan?

Improved communications might be better, but following this forum for a few years shows a wide variety of wants and needs.
Some of it is possible, but most of thos e desires are outside our remit. What is on your wish list and what order or priority should it assume?

Cat 1 Academy.
Remove pillars and improve toilets on the Kop.
Safe standing.
Hotel improvements.
Better players.
Better Manager.
Better training facilities.
Improvements for women’s side.
Better ticket organisation.
A new ground.
Cheaper season tickets.
Cheaper access for casual support.
Better food.

These are just off the top of my head. Any others? To my mind, the list needs priorities, especially as most of them cost money..
Money we don’t currently have.

Is it worth the new owner (If we ever get one) holding a meeting to discuss the wants and needs of supporters, and to present their own plans for the clubs future?

I think we have been kept in the dark for too long, and if supporters goodwill means anything, it should be addressed at the start. I accept some of it is beyond our remit, collectively and individually, but an outline plan for the clubs future is a must have!

Personally, I would be happy with a wrigley tin roof on the bogs, and a tiled mosaic of Chansiri to piss on, The big thing to remember is to be realistic, and you can only spend any money once!

Why would you want to piss on one of the greatest Chairman ever to grace the blue and white? He’s doing a marvellous job and should be celebrated.

Cat one is desirable going forward

Ground improvements and safe standing for those who require it should be a priority

Hotel improvements less of a priority for me, that’s up to Hilton I would say

Better players and manager. Not really, although squad strengthening is desirable.

Better training facilities, yes and I believe that’s work in progress?

Improvement for the women’s side, yes absolutely. The game is growing and a successful team helps the club profile.

Better ticket organisation, yes.

A new ground, absolutely not

Cheaper tickets / access, would be very helpful.

Better food, absolutely. But it won’t happen because if the club gave a shit, it wouldn’t have given compass another contract. They seem quite happy for fan spend to be going to the plentiful other options outside the ground and nearby

IF we did get owners in who were wanting a new ground ,how many of us would agree (could do with a poll but I don't know how to do it ).
And IF we got one, where would be best for locating it ?
What style would it take ?
What capacity ?
Just wondering.....

Good questions.
But football has long since moved away from being a working class game, where the local club genuinely represents the local community.

We are in an era where everything is monetised and owners couldn’t care less about supporters beyond what they can gouge out of their pockets.

Look at us now - transferring from the whims of a slightly rich guy from a distant land who never attends, to a bunch of venture capitalists from another distant land. I don’t expect they will care anymore than the prince, at least he likes sports.

If it’s worth more money to spend on something, they’ll do it. If it isn’t, they won’t. Yours and my opinion on the future of the club and priorities for investment are irrelevant, because they don’t give a shiny one what we think.

Happy Christmas & UTB

Raises some good points. There will always be a problem selling football as an entertainment, and trying to run it as a successful business. One is dependent on the other, but I agree that supporters and the community are slipping down the list of priorities.

What I want is a clear long, medium and short term plan and an annual report that outlines progress towards those objectives. No that bothered about what is in the plan just want to know we are not drifting aimlessly on one persons whim.

Thank you for the suggestions. I suspect that covers most supporters wants lists.

Drifting on someone’s individual whim is so yesterday. If the club is run as a business, should some of that profit be spent on a supporters wish list.
Agree with forward planning by the way.

Typical United board question

“What the fuck does forward planning mean?”

May as well bite as a day off work today, on the cheaper tickets/access for the "casual support" as has been quoted, although it would be great to be able to offer tickets at £10 and a kid a quid again we have to be careful for what we wish for. The football tourists usually flood the market when the big clubs are in town anyway when its £40-50 a ticket. If we are top end championship/Premier League side, I personally believe our tickets are cheap, we are well within or below the prices paid at Leeds and we have shown our supporters more Premier League football recently. We are cheaper than Wednesday who aren't anywhere near getting back to the Premier League. Although I hope if established we don't go down the route of too much corporate or crazy price there is probably £20-50 room for match by match ticket price increase. Although slightly different location Fulham's new developed stand prices are £100 per ticket per match!

Cheap is relative, I for one cannot afford to go. Your bite is well backed up, but that is my reality

I’m very aware that’s a me problem though

Fair comment, I guess it's "how casual is casual" for the not so dear neighbours, its a play off semi-final ever decade, for some it will be 5-10 games a season others maybe 1 or 2. For example £80 over a year for a couple of tickets, if you are fairly local isn't too bad as long as you can get the tickets you want too each season. But if its a family that could easily be £300+ which I can definitely understand isn't good, if you are looking at the Fulham example it works for some as they might do 3 games for the price of one of our season tickets and see some Premier League football. We in effect just like Fulham for the tourists definitely have that opportunity open for "away fans" in the home end or just Premier League tourists in general. One hand I think it's fine as tickets are sold for income but be interesting to know if there is a reseller involved and would much prefer blades getting the tickets cheaper!

'Twas always so and always will be.
Take it as so, from one who has been following the fortunes of Sheffield United Football Club for longer than I like to remember.
Never the less UTB and seasons greetings for the 25th to all on S2 4SU.

Casual was meant to refer to a potential buyer who has zero loyalty points. It sometimes happens when you might want a ticket for a friend or relative who is visiting.
Why are you not allowed to buy a ticket for a friend or relative if that seat would otherwise be empty?

Your personal indifference won’t change anything. Never the less, merry Christmas and UTB.

However the game changes and I agree it has massively over the last 30 years I would still argue that the vast majority of fans are still working class as it's always been.
