When was the last time we actually won the Championship title and got promoted to the Premier League without finishing 2nd or going up via the play offs?

Look, least we aren’t as bad as LeedsHa ha. "Going up via the play offs"
Good one
Sorry. Let me be clear. - we have never gone up via the play offs. There is no " how long since" we won the play offs.Look, least we aren’t as bad as Leeds
Yeah but that dunt count cos football only started in 1992. Fuck knows what I was playing & watching for all the years before thenWe won the 2nd tier in 1953
Watching United lift a trophy against Chesterfield wasn't exactly on my bucket list. But I'll take it.
Love to see a more important trophy like the Championship or FA Cup though. I won't even entertain the play-offs... or PL for that matter.
Our play-off record is still worse than Leeds. It’s worse than everybody. Ever.Look, least we aren’t as bad as Leeds
Nailed it.Is winning the championship title that much of a thing now? Seems it's just known as going up to the Premier league£££
Play Offs !!! …. Read the attached link prior to our last appearance in there versus Forest 3 seasons ago .. and add another failed one to it .. I think we took over Lincoln with this as the official worst record in them .. can’t fkg stand them nowWhen was the last time we actually won the Championship title and got promoted to the Premier League without finishing 2nd or going up via the play offs?

1998 – Lost in Division 1 semi-final v Sunderland (2-1, 0-2)
2003 – Beat Forest in Division 1 semi-final (1-1, 4-3 aet), lost final 0-3 to Wolves
2009 – Beat Preston in Championship semi-final (1-1, 1-0 aet), lost final 0-1 to Burnley
2012 – Beat Stevenage in League One semi-final (0-0, 1-0), lost final 8-7 on pens to Huddersfield after 0-0 draw aet
2013 – Lost to Yeovil in League One semi-final (1-0, 0-2)
2015 – Lost to Swindon in League One semi-final (1-2, 5-5)
2022 – Lost to Forest in Championship semi-final (1-2, 2-1 aet), lost 3-2 on pens
