I don't watch much footy outside of our league, but it seems players nowadays (not just ours) when in and around the middle of the pitch are coached to head the ball as far forwards as they can, rather than bring it down and pass it to a team mate.
It's getting increasingly frustrating to watch, especially when the other team do the same.
It looks amateurish and is surely a wasted opportunity to take control of possession.
Anyone any idea why players rarely bring the ball down and control it in these situations?

Bring it down and pass it to a teammate who doesn’t believe what he’s just seen, so he loses it

OR:

Bullet it into next week, watch them do the same, get the ball and score…..

Simple really

Head tennis you say.....

If you know you know.. 😏
